Eye Tutorial Script

Page 1

Hello my sweet honey bunnies! Today I will teach you how to make eyes for your dolls and creatures. For this project you will need: • Black, gold and silver acrylic paints • Metallic paints • 6 glass cabochons about 8-10mm big • Fine paint brushes For the metallic paints let me suggest Precious metal paints by Viva decor. They are available in all sorts of colors and can be purchased in craft stores or online on Ebay or Google. This pair of eyes was already pre made by an artist and they cost me $18. Technique I am going to show you may cost a little bit more when buying paints, but then you will have enough to make lot more than just one pair. I will be working on three eyes at once so let's start by taking black acrylics and paint different pupils: one cat eye, one ellipse eye and one circle. When you done - wait for it to dry naturally or dry it with your hair dryer for faster result. Now we will use gold and silver paints to outline the pupils and add some little details. I suggest using very thin brush to create delicate speckles and lines. The last step is to cover the rest of the surface with shimmery metallic paint of your choice. I used coral orange with golden shimmer for dragon’s eye, sky blue with silver shimmer for doll's eye, and moss green with golden shimmer for frog's eye. As you can see all three types of eyes are done. Even if this technique seems to be very easy - some of you can get confused with layering. So here are some quick tips to remember: • • • •

Start with an empty cabochon, Always paint a pupil first, Then outline it and paint little lines and speckles, And finish it with a shimmery and colorful background.

This is it, so easy! Good luck with you projects and make sure you show me what you created by sending some pictures to my e-mail. mymandarinducky@gmail.com Bye!
