01 Island Life The Characteristic Island Space for the Residents of Water Village.

In the past, the formation of the "Wei Dun"(ponds surrounded by trail) created the long-term fishery development in Gulao water village. While the traditional fishery can no longer match the development of the social economy, which results in the loss of population. The design aims to change phenomenon described above by upgrading industrial structure: from traditional fisheries to rural tourism. The design dredged the local fish ponds, restore the production water, and finally formed a coherent water system. The islands surrounded by rivers have become the new settlements of the local people.

02 Roof Rambler The Blend of Traditional Charm with Modern Amenities to Awake the Cultural Memory

In the process of city renewal, the gray area between new and old is the best container for social activities and cultural genes. As a mountain city with rich traditional customs and obvious terrain features, Chongqing carries out many old memories of the people living here. The project takes advantage of the special mountain topography of Chongqing and uses a ground-start roof corridor and platform in the representative region of the lower half of the Yuzhong peninsula to create a new type pedestrian system. It preserves the traditional form of mountain building and creates enough public space to attract people.

The project takes the advantages of mountainous terrain and solves the disconnection caused by the relative elevation through strengthening the vertical connection and horizontal connection.

Vertical Connection The vertical connection divides the space into three levels: skywalk - building space - ground track. Human can get different experiences in each level.

The building, supported by the frame structure, looks like a forest that has taken root in the city. The trees are rooted on shaped balconies and the gardens cover the roof. Create a multi-angle view: The traditional residence has only four sides, the design creates a multi-angle view through cutting, rotating and moving. The project aims to create a recognizable collective residence. Create a comfortable living environment: semi-private open balcony, vertical green, good neighborhood, energy efficient materials...

The project is a cabin tailored for a homestay. The micro house is hidden in the bamboo forest and its corridor is directly connected to the dwellings. What's exciting is that the wooden house will be built in the near future.
