Pepys Road is a loft and rear extension project. I was actively involved from the start of the project to the construction tender stage. My input to the project included the initial measuring survey, existing drawings and proposed concept designs, liaising with the clients to confirm the design and submitting planning application. WG2 WG2 After receiving the planning permission, I produced the building regulations drawings at technical stage and the tender drawings package including M&E layout, door schedule, windows schedule, bathrooms & kitchen schedule, external work Layout and the schedule of finishes RL RL 900*1200 900*1200

Proposed section with sun study at planning stage (N.T.S) PROPOSED SECTION B- B

7.7 Sustainable Design The proposal will be a sustainable design to provide eco-friendly homes and create a green community for a better health and well being environment. Externally, the proposed well insulated zinc roof will be long lasting and recyclable. The proposed green roof can reduce energy cost by absorbing heat instead of attracting it and providing natural insulation for the flats. As the rear of the application site is located to the south east, the proposal will achieve a good level of daylight and winter natural heat from the sun with the pitched roof design and south facing double glazed windows and double glazed doors, as well, north facing windows will be minimised to reduce heat loss.

Long lasting & recyclable zinc roof

rainwater harvesting drainage system

Potential photovoltaic solar panels

Natural installed green roof

To reduce flood risk in a flood risk zone 2 area, a rainwater harvesting drainage system will be proposed. It will also reduce the water consumption from the residents. Potentially, photovoltaic solar panels will be installed as a renewable energy source.

2m

4m

6m

Internally, Higher than normal wall insulation will be achieved. The proposed flats will also use eco-friendly and sustainable flooring such as reclaimed hardwood or natural fibre carpet. Low energy light fittings and appliances will be use throughout homes to keep the carbon footprint down and provide sustainable low cost living for the residents.
