O B J E C T I V E To create a high quality skin care line for a preexisting company and develop products that demonstrate strong conceptual development and typographic sensitivity. Prioritize, organize, and develop hierarchies for effective packaging designs. Research, develop, and present the ideas professionally. S O L U T I O N Ocean Lotion is a private label for Billabong with ocean lovers in mind. It’s a complete skincare line for a person of higher quality taste. In order to execute a successful package design a mixture of geometric shapes in shades of ocean colors was used to set the mood of the brand. This skin care line is for both men and women that enjoy the beach, surfing and the outdoors. The line includes waterproof sunscreens, waterproof face sunscreens, lotions and sun tan oil.

O B J E C T I V E To produce a book that demonstrates typographic composition using grids, complex hierarchy, information design and sequencing within a cohesive system. Use a topic that is interesting and apply typographic principles to express concepts visually and creatively to solve problems specific to a design context and audience. S O L U T I O N A typographically appealing book was created using Bipolar Disorder as the overall topic for exploration. Materials were collected from several different sources and complied together to create a well executed study. Over the course of the semester the work was refined until printed for completion.

O B J E C T I V E Choose a company or brand and design a new packaging line for tea. It can either be an existing tea company that needs a face lift, or it can be a company that is extending it’s product line to include a tea line. The feel of the line must extend the overall feel of the existing company. S O L U T I O N Zestea is an extension for the Verve Coffee Roasters that was established in Santa Cruz, California in 2008. Zestea matches their unique and artistic style while still conscious of environment with Eco-friendly packaging. The packaging will boast three unique f lavors of tea in bold patterns and colors; lemon & honey, mint & honey and peach & honey.

O B J E C T I V E To create the packaging design for a new line of indoor and outdoor paints for a famous artist, designer, or architect. The line of paints should reflect the style, functionality and high-quality spirit of the brand. S O L U T I O N This line of paint was inspired by fashion designer Betsey Johnson. Johnson sells unique fashion for creative, daring women that follow their own rules and have their own sense of style. The line incorporates bright, bold, and colorful paint drops along with feminine typefaces to tie into her overall look.

O B J E C T I V E To design the elements for a music festival with a social cause that it will benefit. Visually represent the music groups with graphic design, influences, imagery inspiration, and research. Cohesively match the style of the musicians with the genre of the music and the setting. S O L U T I O N Forest Fest is a non-profit music festival that benefits to preserve California’s natural resources and wildlife. It is held annually at UCSC in Santa Cruz, California during the summer and guests are able to camp on-site. The design is simple and bold with bright pops of color to draw the viewers attention.

Research, develop, and present the ideas professionally. S O L U T I O N Tail Wag is a dog cleaning product line that is 100% natural and effective. The product line combines both Eco-friendly appeal, yet is still unique and noteworthy. All of the containers are biodegradable and are organized in groups with pops of bright colors. Each container features an illustration of a dog that is demonstrating what the product is used for.

They have many CSR policies that have a positive impact on the community and they believe in contributing to global responsibility. Green Bean is a fictitious name created for Starbucks global responsibility reports within their company. I created Green Bean so that Starbucks can showcase their global responsibility efforts in a new and effective light.

S O L U T I O N The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated around the world to gather family and friends to pray and celebrate loved ones that have deceased. To keep with the original idea, I chose a decorative skull as the main premise of my brand identity and added elements and bright colors.

S O L U T I O N The chosen company was Gap Inc. which is a multinational clothing and accessories retailer for men, women and children. It was founded in 1969 and is still very successful today with over 18 million visitors annually. They pride themselves in the quality of their products and the simplicity of their styles. I wanted to expand on this within the re branding by pushing the limits a bit.
