Make drug tests mandatory, PDEA tells TV networks ALL local TV networks should have their own “internal cleansing” by conducting mandatory and surprise drug tests on their celebrity talents, according to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino. Aquino on Thursday said in a TV interview that stations such as ABS-CBN, GMA 7 and TV5 on their own initiative should check if their talents were involved in drugs.

HE 45-day official campaign period set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for local candidates ahead of the 2019 midterm elections kicks off today, Friday.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said on Thursday that with the start of the local campaign, all candidates, local and national, were covered by the Comelec’s campaign rules. Jimenez urged local candidates to voluntarily tear down campaign materials posted outside of designated common poster areas or risk being charged later for violation of election laws. All illegal posters and election propaganda, regardless of who put them up, should be taken down by the concerned candidate, he said.

Cybercrime cases soar THE number of cybercrime cases investigated by the Philippine National Police (PNP) went up by almost 80 percent last year, according to the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG).
