HOW DOES THE ALKARO75 WORK? When water passes through the filters in this system, it breaks up the clusters of water molecules into smaller clusters. This makes it easier for your body to absorb so you stay better hydrated. Naturally occurring in our bodies, oxygen free radicals (which are missing electrons) which in order to survive, they will steal from normal, healthy cells. By drinking all natural alkaline water, which is right with antioxidants, you are introducing extra electrons to your body. Keep your family healthy by drinking alkaline water from the Alkaro75!

WHY ALKALINE WATER?

Alkaline water has a naturally high pH level (8.0-9.5) but the average diet consists of foods which are highly acidic (3.3 - 5.0). What most people do not know is this overload of acidic foods has been linked to many chronic conditions including diabetes and high blood pressure. By consuming alkaline water in place of tap water, you can help your body find the natural balance it seeks!

The Alka 75 efficiently eliminates or significantly reduces copper, lead, fluoride, cadmium, radium 226/228, selenium, arsenic, cysts, barium, chromiutm, copper, lead, fluoride, Odor, TDS many more.

llanrey ‘Migz’ Salazar is a Multi-Awarded International Filipino contemporary visual artist based in Paris. His work rests at the nexus of hard and soft, clean and dirty…it captures the plight of the individual-struggle, faith, ecstasy and the frailty of humankind. There’s nothing about the images of his works that is harmoniously beautiful by any conventional standards. Salazar wanted the viewer to stick with the image as profoundly; a resonant image that will not deliver its real physical meaning, it is against narrative and probably against interpretations; it’s pure allegory and metaphor. After moving to Germany and Paris from Manila more than a decade ago, Allanrey ‘Migz’ Salazar is among the few Filipino contemporary artists who live their passion for art in Paris. ARTIST STATEMENT

As a Multi-Awarded International Filipino artist based in Paris it is inevitable that my subject matter lives at the nexus of Europe and Southeast Asia. That said, my sincere hope is that it touches (and occasionally cuts) at a universal level in a way that is not slavish to origins or national boundaries. My time in Paris has reinforced my belief that the French artists struggle to shed the magnetic force of Impressionism. It still informs their work to this day. Similarly, Filipinos have a hard time shedding their own, but I feel that my work tries to create a distance. When viewers observe my work, I want them to be uncomfortable — not in a naive attempt to shock or horrify, but to always remind them of what might be lurking around the corner. Of all the visual information that they have downloaded into their brains over the course of their busy days, I want them to be reflecting on my work when their heads to hit their pillows. I want to tickle their curiosity and provide a clean window through which they see and interpret the real world. n

DON’T TAKE THESE THREE THINGS

For Granted Think of what your life was like 5 years ago and how much it has changed for the better. Isn’t it such a great way to start the year?

T

oo often in life, we fail to appreciate what we already have because we were so busy thinking about the things that we don’t have. Truth is, if we will only be grateful and look at how our lives had changed for the better, how much we improved, get past the challenges, became stronger and be reminded about who surrounded us amidst all the things that happened to us in the past years, then life would be so much better. Having the proper mindset is such a relevant thing that one must not take for granted. Without the appreciation of how blessed you really are, you’re not gonna be able to move forward. Here are three things that you may want to examine and look deep into your life. Then see and feel, how grateful you may have been because you have it. 1. Health. You’re breathing properly, seeing your loved ones and enjoying this beautiful world means that you’re actually doing really great.

2. Family The fact that you have a family to come home to, to share your struggles even your laughter means that you are so blessed, really. 3. Progress How many of your goals before have you already achieved? Take a moment to realize how far you’ve come, tap your back and get ready to achieve more. Do not take these for granted. Don’t take your health, your family, your progress for granted! Being grateful for what you already have is the perfect place to continue your journey. Take a step back and analyze your current reality. Realize how much you already have and be grateful for it .

atriona Gray from the Philippines bested 93 other aspiring candidates for this year’s Miss Universe crown at IMPACT Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. She is the fourth Philippine native to win the crown. Catriona Gray was a strong front runner from the day she arrived in Bangkok. Wearing an emerald, Thai-inspired dress with side trail and tailored pants ensemble on her arrival proved that she came well-prepared and ready to win the crown. Her dedicated and intense training, collaboration with her glam team and almost perfect day-to-day wardrobe resulted in Catriona’s continuously sustained

momentum as the “candidate to beat” among this year’s 94 contestants. True to her role as the country’s representative, each of her meticulously curated wardrobes and accessories were made from local fabrics and materials by indigenous tribes in the country. From the national costume to the long gown she wore at the finals night, each represented Philippine history in bits and facts. Her now iconic “Lava walk and Slow-motion twirl” move which was inspired by “Mayon Volcano” evoked the biggest impression towards her winning the crown along with her brief but strong answers during the Q&A leading up to the finals.

I would bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining, and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson. If I could teach also people to be grateful, we could have an amazing world where negativity could not grow and foster, and children would have a smile on their face.” - Catriona’s winning answer on “What is the most important lesson you’ve learned in your life, and how would you apply it to your time as Miss Universe?” Clearly, none of the candidates ever came as prepared as Catriona did and demonstrated in the history of this pageant. Catriona is passionate about the arts ad previously received her Master Certificate in Music Theory from Berklee College of Music. She works closely with Young Focus Philippines, an education based NGO that provides free education and school sponsorships for young children in Tondo, Manila. She is an advocate for HIV/AIDS education and prevention after losing a close friend to the virus. Catriona also supports “Love Yourself Philippines”, an organization that offers free testing, education, and, treatment for those living with HIV/AIDS. Catriona will stay at the official Miss Universe residence in New York city during her reign to perform her duties after her first social and charity event in the Philippines.

SIAM LIVING MILESTONE: BEING ONE AMONG THE OFFICIAL PRESS TO COVER THE MISS UNIVERSE 2018 PAGEANT

BANGKOK, THAILAND

The Miss Universe pageant retained its reputation as the most relevant among numerous beauty contests held around the world. This much anticipated, most prestigious beauty pageant in the world was hosted by Thailand this year. One thing came to my mind: this is Siam Living’s opportunity for worldwide recognition! As soon as I got news, I immediately inquired how to be an official or “credentialed” press to cover the pageant from the Miss Universe Organization. As a contributor writer/columnist of Manila Up International magazine for two years, I tried to apply at the MUO to be officially credentialed. I submitted my fashion and social events articles that I covered 28

for Manila Up Magazine, significant for my MUO press application. The first reply I got from them was that I needed to submit additional published articles to support my application, as there were a lot of applicants. They were to choose only a limited number of press to cover the event. I complied and anxiously waited. Not until the week before the Miss Universe pageant officially kicked off when I got my approval from them. I even first learned about the good news from our publisher, Sonia Bermejo because I didn’t immediately read the email from MUO that was also sent to her. As an amateur writer, this approval from the most followed beauty contests in the world is a huge honor

for me. The MUO’s approval is already a huge proof of my writing ability and this, of course, will not be possible without the prior approval and trust of Manila Up! Publisher, Sonia Bermejo. I also would like to thank Melody Garcia, who was instrumental for me to get connected with Manila Up Magazine. Since my high school days, I envisioned myself as becoming a media personality. On our school yearbook I had written that I wanted to become a newscaster someday. In this generation of social media and digital conveniences, writing about the event was huge work. With my full time day job as a librarian, having only minimal multimedia equipment and the only media representative for Siam Living/Manila Up Magazine, I had to adapt with the rest of the press who were able to make real-time updates about the Miss Universe event. For the first time, I realized the “Fear-of-Missing-Out” (FOMO) is real. I needed to make constant updates on all of my social media pages to cater to the demands of my audience and followers around the world, staying up until 3AM to make sure I get the latest feed and

notices from MUO as well. Good thing is that most of the activities are held in the evening and that the hotel venue is very close to where I work and live. I literally also have to stay positive with so many encounters during the coverage, trying my best to be worthy of the credential given to me. As this event finally came to conclusion, I am thankful for the opportunity, for the international event exposure, new people I’ve met, and, the international audience and readers I gained. I dedicated my time, effort and ability because I know the Manila Up Magazine team, my family, and, friends are all proud of this opportunity turned achievement I got for my writing milestone. The “likes” and positive comments I got from “Siam Living” followers and even from the official pages of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari, Monique Lhuillier and Lilli Gil Valletaare are all additional honor for me as well, knowing that they have noticed my coverage. n Sawadeekha and Kaphunmakkha, everyone! -Maricel “Celle” Diaz

urassic World was the latest movie in its series that I watched. I keep an eye on the Jurassic series purely for entertainment. It is a fictional story. I had no idea that dinosaurs walked and lived on earth until I visited the Natural History Museum in South Kensington. The Museum was originally built to showcase a natural history collection, to give glory to God- the Creator. These collections started in the seventeenth century when a wealthy London doctor, naturalist and collector, Sir Hans Sloane (1660-1753) collected 80,000 objects and books ranging from natural history to archaeology. He gave all of these in his will to the nation that the British Museum in Bloomsbury opened in 1759. It was transferred to the present location through the efforts of Sir Richard Owen in 1856 to honour God. The South Kensington British Museum (Natural History) opened to the

public in 1881. In 1840 Charles Darwin began writing his theory about natural selection and in 24 November 1859 he published “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection.” The theory of Natural Selection is: “Given enough time one species can transform entirely to new species, known as macroevolution.” The dinosaurs into birds, whales from amphibious mammals and the forefathers of apes into humans. Today, there is the Darwin Centre Cocoon in the British Natural History Museum, which was completed in 2009. Charles Darwin himself admitted in p. 92 of his autobiography that he was a Theist. He believed in God the Creator. The Natural History Museum for me showcases the natural work of a Supernatural Creator.

Dating of Evolutionist against Biblical Dating Great Britain invaded the globe through its belief in God and the intelligence God has given to it. But, it seems to me the theory of Modern Evolution/Atheism invaded the minds of most people in Great Britain, and, nowadays especially among the younger ones. Most Evolutionists assume that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old and the dinosaurs were extinct millions of years ago. They determined the years through radiocarbon dating. I am not an expert but there are a lot of reliable websites that explain about it,one of them is Creation Ministries International ( www.creation.com ).They are a group of highly educated paleontologists, scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and, theologians among others. I do not

believe that the earth is 4.5 billion years and the dinosaurs got extinct million years ago. But I enjoyed all the fossils in the museum and the architectural design of the building is captivating. A must to see for everyone coming to London. I strongly believe the earth is young and about 6,000 years old. Mark 10:6 (KJV)”But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female”. Jesus was referring to the time when God created Adam and Eve and nothing on earth existed not millions nor billions years before that. The Word of Jesus for me is enough, but when was that you asked? The genealogy from the days of Adam to Abraham is 2000 years, Abraham to Jesus Christ is 2000 years, and from Jesus Christ to our days is 2000 years with a total of around 6,000 years. History and Future of Humankind Ape is a kind of animal and man is from human kind. They are two different kinds and for me they can never be one. Modern science proved it when DNA was discovered. I uphold the Holy Bible as the highest authority of all including history. In the very beginning God created man in His own image. Man has the image of God, but man is not the same kind as God. Man cannot act as God. When man sinned, God said the same kind of man shall come to redeem and restore the broken relationship between God and man.The enemy used the form of an animal to deceive man. Another highlight in the history of man and animals are found in Genesis 6 to 10, the history of Noah, his family and all kinds of living creatures. in Job 40:15. It is called behemoth. “Behemoth” was the exact physical description of dinosaurs. It is a Hebrew word transliterated into English which means “beast of beast”. Sir Richard Owen invented the term dinosaur in 1842 to identify the first monstrous fossil unearthed at that time without any intention to turn his back from God. Fossils are found in sedimentary rock. Sedimentary rock layers of the earth testified that once there was a global flood based on the fossils found in many nations of the world, and the bible calls it Noah’s flood. Noah was called “Noah” because he was to provide relief to the cursed earth. The original Hebrew of the bible for the word favour is “Chen”, if you read it backwards in Hebrew it is “Noah”. Chen also means “grace and mercy”. In the time of Noah, God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. God observed all this corruption not because He couldn’t do anything about it, it is because He is patient was giving people time to repent. Until, He finally decided that because of the people’s hardness of heart, judgment had to come. Noah’s exceptional righteousness moved God to take mercy and saved him and his family. God’s grace and mercy is the reason we are still physically and naturally here today. Nowadays, we frequently experience local floods, so devastating and cost the lives of thousands of people at one time like the flood in Tacloban brought by typhoon Yolanda. But, there was only one global flood. God promised not to send a global flood again and we remember it every time we see a beautiful rainbow in the sky. A good reminder that despite all the darkness we are, in beautiful colours will soon arise. The bible said 100 years after Noah’s flood, people stayed in one place and started building the Tower of Babel. God confused their language, then scattered them around the earth. So, it is God who initiated the immigration of men and women. This migration event spread the story of Noah through oral tradition of telling stories from one generation to another. That is the reason why the context of the global flood is found in different cultures and places of the world. But only the Jews and Christians retained the moral implication of a global flood that can be found in the Holy Bible. The rest of the story of global floods varies the way others wanted it to fit them such as the epic known as Gilgamesh the earliest surviving form of literature written around 2150-1400 BC, which includes a story of deluge about the great flood.

KINGDOM ADVENTURES BY GILDA PINEDA DIONELA time to prove it clearly, like millions of years, if this fallen world still exists by then. Revelation 21:1 (KJV) says “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea”. Jesus is the One and Only “God and man” who can restore the broken relationship between God and man. He said, “I am the door: by me if any man enters in, he shall be saved…”. The door will not remain open. The day will come that the Father will shut the door and only those who entered the door of Jesus Christ shall be saved. It is not about religion, but about salvation. Believing the Bible as the Word of God in our short life on earth is better than to spend more than a million years in a fire that never ends. God loves all men, but the truth is, only those who accepted Jesus as Lord will be saved. The day will come when the Father will shut the door of salvation just like in the days of Noah. This is the supernatural history of man in a natural world we live in. n

God designed the ark. Noah just obeyed and built it according to God’s specifications. When the young adult animals which can reproduce for a long time entered the ark with the family of Noah, “the Lord closed the door behind them”, then the flood waters covered the earth. It was Noah who preached, built the ark and collected the animals, but it was the Lord who decided and the One who personally closed the door so that judgement begun and wiped out living creatures outside the ark. There are a lot of scientific inventions and discoveries by the brilliant British that makes living in the modern world comfortable and better in a natural or physical sense. But Charles Darwin’s theory, most Atheist and Modern Evolutionist used worldwide intellect to prove that there is no God. I listened many hours to the lectures of atheist/ modern evolutionist to understand them, but what I found out are only big words that I must look up in the dictionary. In my mind, they may need more Images from © Trustees of the Natural History Museum, London [2018]. All rights reserved.

CADENA DE AMOR

A Book Review LOS ANGELES

T

he latest book of Filipina poet and journalist Marra Pl. Lanot “Cadena de Amor” (Chain of Love) is like the flower that makes us feel compassion, friendship, love for family, politics around her world and the memories of her life. The poems written in English, Tagalog and Spanish will touch you even with the simplest theme about little things ---her cat, birthday noodles, facebook and catching dragonflies. Being a strong feminist herself, Lanot speaks to us about a tribeswoman, machismo, being a Filipina and a woman fighting martial law. In Tagalog, she tells about how women can be “disturbed” doing household chores and taking care of the baby. “Mabuti pa ang babae nagtatrabaho nang walang sweldo o tropeo (It is good that the women work without pay or trophy).” But what is most revealing about Marra is her closeness with her parents ---her father ON THE BEAT Serafin Lanot, astrologer and By Fe Koons

writer himself and musician. Gloria, her mother, who is a businesswoman and a great cook. A whole section of the poems was dedicated to her father “Sa Kaarawan ni Serafin” (On the Birthday of Serafin).” A poignant poem expresses her longing to be with her father who encouraged her writing and to stand up against dictatorship. She writes, “Papa alam ko na mananatili kang anghel, anghel sa mga tala, umiyak man ako ng dagat. (Father I know that you are an angel, an angel among the stars, even if I cry an ocean).” For her mother Gloria whom she thanks and offers all the flowers in gratitude for the sacrifice that Gloria has done for the family and the moments that her mother have spent with them. In Spanish, Marra conveys love in “Creo me o no” (Believe or not)”. She says, “Believe or not, I love you for many reasons. We’ve gone through a lot, and I love you in my own quiet way.” But the selected poems were the most delightful and absolutely beautiful. In “Manila To Me”, she puts across the richness of Manila, its brown children on the streets, the church, and the neon lights. “ Heroes killed for unremembered cause, creating myths around Maria, the loveliness that is Manila to me.” Cadena de Amor is a tapestry of Marra whose words like the flower will always be pink and lovely. n

e Homo Sapiens who seek knowledge in order to be even wiser- are born of a discordant fundamentally flawed union not one of us is or will ever be “perfect” this is True as it is by design there is always room for improvement Those of us who always strive to improve our situation first must Care in order to Love which opens us to Knowledge the destroyer of Fear Lies Ignorance Confusion In order to understand the world we must first know our Self.

The way “out” is always in As it is within - so is it without to know our Self is to know the Universe the Universe is Mind As it is aboveso is it below if we are not rooted in Generative Care we soon slip beneath the sinking sands of Willful Ignorance blinded by our own glittering sea of self-deception

To know and not do is to not know to seek knowledge is to serve Truth Truth is what IS-nothing more or less-”Beliefs” are irrelevant counterproductive antagonistic destructive if

they do not align perfectly with what IS as opposed to what we “want” “believe” think we “need” or “imagine” ourselves or Life itself to be.

Life is Change nothing more or less To follow Truth is to take the Right Hand path-the straight and narrow Truth is a flat line it does not waiver nor does it change as it has been so forever it shall be where Lies change constantly in order to remain “credible” “relevant” “believable” Truth Changes Not instead it is envel- oped in obscurity thus it glows in the shadows. To seek Knowledge is to shine a light that reveals the path we choose to follow only then will we know if we are going the “Right” way. Right is the opposite polarity of Wrong to do “Right” is to improve our situation by uplifting others to the best of our ability in always striving to serve Truth above all while not know- ingly doing harm to any other sentient being in the process. Our life is cyclical it is rhythmic- what comes around goes around- we can do whatever we like-but never without consequences we reap what we sow to follow Truth is

to harmonize our Thoughts Emotions Actions in such a way that we walk the talk- when we do the consequences of our Actions align with Truth which is what Is-nothing more or less. When we follow it the high frequency of the wavelengths we generate vibrate so quickly they transmogrify into a flat line when our Actions are Rightly the culmination harmonization of our Thoughts and Emotions- the vibration is the word- the word is the sword wielded to rend all deception Ignorance Confusion Fear asunder in service of Truth above all if used to serve Chaos we will only succeed in cutting our throats with our own tongues. To Under Stand is to literally Stand Under the Natural Law of the Universe which is perfect as opposed to flawed Secular or Sacrosanct Codes Statutes Acts Decrees Dogma while there are those who may zealously truncate Crowley choosing to live by the credo “Do what thou wilt” a closer reading of the scrib- blings of Aleister reveal. Love is the Law Love under Will every consequence is born of the Action of our Free Will not only can we change we are always changing-like it or not regardless of

how we may “feel” or what we “believe” both are irrelevant counterproductive if they are not aligned perfectly with Truth which can be known is not amorphous or relativerequires neither “belief ” nor “acceptance” to exist-it can not will not does not change. Truth Is what Is-While Truth changes Not Life IS Change nothing more or less-embrace change serve Truth While the sun rises low on the horizon as one year ends so too do our egos die shedding false no- tions of Self rooted in seeds of Fear Ignorance Confusion feeding off the resultant Chaos. By fire nature is restored in purity the fire of our thirst for Truth every year each day hour minute we are reborn cleansed renewed-every morning when we wake we rise from the grave to seek the sun of knowledge moved by the moon of our emotions in which our mind has bathed through the night. With each step we stretch our limbs riding on the waves of our voices we reach for the stars through our Actions-we are unstoppable we are beautiful we are born of a discordant fundamentally flawed union not one of us is or will ever be “perfect” this is True as it is by design there is always room for improvement. n

Refillable? Yes! Just add filtered water* to activate, and use daily to moisturize. The technology involved is patented, using the mixture of ingredients to create a great mineral spray. Used as a hydrating mineral spray, the Alkaglam works great as a makeup setting spray. It keeps your skin hydrated for a more vibrant and radiant look.

Vitamin C To achieve a more uniform skin tone and better complexion. Vitamin C is great for reducing redness. With just a few uses, you may find that you have a more even skin tone. O-Dobi Beads These beads are added to neutralize the active oxygen in the filtered water, to balance the pH in the water. Hydrogen Water The healing waters at Lourdes, Frances and other mineral springs as well, are different from ordinary water as it contains a high amount of Hydrogen. It has an extra Hydrogen gas molecule, making it an antioxidant. Hydrogen water is replicated and the same minerals found in thermal spring waters are used, all combining to create a soothing effect on the skin. Hydrogen water is currently the "next big thing" in wellness in Japan. Tourmaline A tiny electrical charge is generated when Tourmaline is exposed to pressure. Thus the water is energized on contact and the energy is easily passed to your cells, thereby revitalizes the cells and encouraging healthy collagen production. Magnesium Wear daily for a boost of energy and to protect against aging. *Filtered Water: Bottled spring water, Brita filter, Zero Water filter, etc. are all fine. Tap water should not be used since it probably contains chlorine that will shorten the life of the O-Dobi Beads.
