A NOTE FROM NANCY MANN, CEO OF MANN’S JEWELERS
I never tire of getting the call or text from someone who is reaching out to get together, asking me to work with them as they choose something intended to help them take the most important next step in their relationship. Topping the list was when I received that very call from my daughter’s boyfriend, a guy she has been great friends with for many years. He has been to so many of our family holiday dinners I’ve lost count, joined both of my daughters when they traveled together on a trip to Europe, and has always been around for summer BBQ’s and boat rides. He came to Rochester during Covid to quarantine with my daughter Ali, both working from open laptops on the dining room table, and somehow, when it became time for her to go back to NYC and him to go back to Washington, D.C., they realized they would really miss spending time with each other every day. Another Covid love story!

As I told David when he reached out to me about buying a ring for Ali, they already had a wonderful foundation for marriage. Close friends first, they have seen each other through good days and bad, as they’ve navigated career moves, different cities, and whatever else has come their way. Great friends, they have always stuck together.
We love to hear the love stories couples share when we showcase their beautiful weddings, and all of the special details that make their love story unique. For this issue of Accent, I am thrilled to share my daughter Ali’s wedding to her husband David, alongside the other MJ couples featured. Held in Rochester, NY on September 18th, 2022, the day brought a combination of sunshine, clouds, and ultimately, some rain. A gracious friend offered his beautiful home for their special day, a home Ali has always loved. With the ceremony outside, and dinner for 21 guests on the wrought-iron terrace, encircled with vines and replete with a glass ceiling, the setting was intimate and elegant. Surrounded by only their families and a whole lot of love, the bride and groom deemed the day absolutely “perfect” and exactly what they had imagined.
