Amidst all the doom and gloom of political uncertainty, falling Christmas sales and the apparent demise of the high street as we know it, it is with great pride that we at the Palace can say that we had a simply wonderful festive season with an exceptionally good and well-received pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs!

I need to draw attention to the fact that our Booking Fee will be increasing by 20p, making it £1.20 on professional productions. There will also be a 20p Booking Fee on amateur and dance school productions booked through the Box Office and £1.20 online. Both of these changes come into effect on 1 April 2019 and apply to all tickets, whether they are booked via the Box Office or online. It has become necessary to increase the Booking Fee to help reduce the District Council subsidy of this lovely theatre. The Booking Fee income remains with the theatre and never forms part of the income of visiting companies. We have a really entertaining season ahead that hopefully will delight you. If you still crave more panto fun, Easter brings us two performances of Peter Pan with Dani Harmer and Bobby Davro. But, believe it or not, we have a hugely varied programme apart from panto, including Cannon and Ball, Ben and Holly Live, Black Dyke Brass Band, Ballet Theatre UK, Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers, Sherlock Holmes drama, musical theatre, a Seekers tribute tour and so much more!

Who’s who?!

You’ve bought your tickets, you’ve made your plans and it’s the day of the show. It’s time to enjoy your night out! When you arrive at the Theatre you can enter via the Museum entrance and go straight to Groucho’s bar. The bar team are welcoming and are happy to serve a range of alcoholic beverages, as well as soft drinks and hot drinks.

The Stage newspaper awarded us 4/5 stars. Many thanks to you who came in your thousands to soak up the fun and laughter, so much so that we finished on 95%, up 5% on last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk. And the amazing news is that at the time of writing in early January, ticket sales are already on 13% for this year’s Cinderella, a figure only reached on 27 February last year! So if you don’t want to miss out on what may be a record-breaking panto, I suggest you book early!

Seussical is based on the works of Dr. Seuss and weaves together his most famous tales and characters from at least fifteen books. The show follows the adventures of Horton, an elephant who one day hears voices coming from a speck of dust. He discovers that within this tiny speck exists the smallest planet in the universe! On this tiny planet live a tiny race of creatures known as Whos. Although ridiculed by the other animals in the Jungle of Nool for believing in something he cannot see, Horton persists that Whos exist. Some characters fall in love, some have adventures and some save the world! The New Youth Theatre concept is simple.
