Join Ballet Theatre UK as they enter the enchanting and magical realm of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Thursday 1 March ADA beautifully explores the life and work of Ada Lovelace: a mathematician, unsung genius and local legend, considered to be the first computer programmer. The play re-imagines Ada’s carefully controlled childhood, her dynamic collaboration with mathematician Charles Babbage and her fraught relationship with her family legacy. In a modern-day university, a computer scientist unwillingly allows a blogger to meddle in Ada’s work. ADA is a compelling and complex play about the difficulties of mother daughter relationships. It explores both the potential of Ada’s ideas and the possibilities of artificial intelligence, using electronic sound that is ingeniously triggered live on stage by the performers. Time: 7.45pm
Following on from the company’s critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet, they present a ballet set to charm the whole family. With stunning original choreography set to the iconic Mendelssohn score plus breath-taking costume, you will be transported to the magical woodland of old where you will rediscover the magical charm of this classic tale. JOHN TAMS AND BARRY COOPE Wednesday 14 March Starring legendary comedy star from the original Dad’s Army TV series and films, the Vicar, Frank Williams.
Wednesday 7 – Sunday 11 March Set against the backdrop of the beautiful French Polynesian islands, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical, South Pacific, links the themes of romance, duty and prejudice, creating a show that is humorous, heartbreaking and thought-provoking. Written over 60 years ago, this hugely entertaining show still has an important and relevant message, dealing with issues that are as raw today as they were in 1949.
So as the curtain rises, sit back and enjoy some of the greatest show numbers of all time.
Making a rare appearance on stage to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the famous TV show, Frank will tell funny stories about Dad’s Army, working on TV with Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies and many more. He will also speak about the recent Dad’s Army film in which he plays a cameo role as the Vicar. The show also features a full supporting company, sing along songs and hilarious comedy. Not to be missed!

Tuesday 20 – Wednesday 21 March Lerner and Loewe’s award-winning story of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady is widely considered one of the greatest musicals of all time. Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is that rare musical by which all others are measured. The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, including: Wouldn’t It Be Loverly, With a Little Bit of Luck, The Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where You Live, Get Me to the Church on Time, and I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face. Eliza Doolittle is a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When Professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like a proper lady, an unlikely friendship begins to flourish. The New Youth Theatre concept is simple. Children between the ages of 3-17 years are taught how to develop and improve their performing arts skills whilst rehearsing for a fully staged musical each term.
