This uplifting, heart-warming show is full of patriotic nostalgia. Hand clapping, foot tapping songs, singalongs, songs that won the war, songs to make you smile and to touch your heart and a good old fashioned cockney knees up.
Darling Buds of May actor Tyler Butterworth tells the funny, moving and unashamedly nostalgic story of his much-loved parents, the nation’s first female TV impressionist Janet Brown, and the inimitable Carry On star Peter Butterworth. From heroic wartime escapades at POW camp Stalag Luft 111, to a night at Chequers with Mrs Thatcher, A Bit of a Carry On is a warm and uplifting journey from wartime to show time.
Based on the TV show everybody loves-ly jubbly! A brilliant homage, full of renditions of your favourite episodes and stirring renditions of favourite cockney songs. With hilarious moments, uncanny resemblance and fun audience interaction, this comedic tribute is bonnet de douche and guaranteed to captivate and delight audiences young and old. Not sure how to get into writing? Have you done some writing but have not got your work out there? Start the year with something positive and join our new writing group. Led by Stacey Moon-Tracy, an experienced local writer and teacher, this class will help young people flex their writing muscles, grow in confidence and find out more about their own writing style. Anything goes, poetry, short stories or writing for the stage and screen, this is a great opportunity for all local young writers to give it a go. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Writing East Midlands and Mansfield’s Townscape Heritage project over the next few months. To get involved, sign up at writingeastmidlands.co.uk
