It's a dismal day at the Addams family's mansion, with the ever-approaching storm clouds reflecting the gloomy atmosphere that has beset the household. Daughter Wednesday, now eighteen years old, has found herself experiencing a surprising new sensation, one that frightens both her and her family: she has fallen in love. Lucas Beineke, the object of her affections, comes from a seemingly normal family, and he and his parents Mal and Alice are on their way to the Addams' estate to become better acquainted with the family over dinner. As they learn to relate to the Beinekes and cope with Wednesday's romance, one thing is certain: the Addams family will never be the same. The New Youth Theatre concept is simple. Children between the ages of 3-17 years are taught how to develop and improve their performing arts skills whilst rehearsing for a fully staged musical each term. This unique approach to musical theatre brings children of all ages together to enjoy learning new skills, have fun and be on-stage! Date: Friday 22 - Saturday 23 March Time: 7.30pm Tickets: ÂŁ15 Full / ÂŁ10 Concs. Duration: Approx. 2hrs 20mins Venue: Palace Theatre, Main Stage Age Suitability: Suitable for ages 16yrs+ due to nature of content and strong language
With music and lyrics by multi-award-winning songwriting duo, Pasek and Paul (The Greatest Showman), and book by Peter Duchan, this hauntingly beautiful musical is based on the 1991 Warner Bros film of the same name. The year is 1963 and a group of young marines decide to celebrate their last night before they ship off to Vietnam with a cruel game they call a ‘dogfight’ - each man sets out to find the ‘ugliest’ girl in town and bring her to a party where she will be judged. Corporal Eddie Birdlace is running out of time to find a date when he encounters idealistic waitress, Rose Finney who rewrites the rules of the game and teaches him the power of compassion. Dogfight offers a wonderful lesson in humanity and promises to take audiences on a romantic and heart-breaking journey, which will remain with you long after you leave the theatre.
