WELCOME BACK TO THE MAC The health and safety of guests is, as always, the number one priority. Accordingly, a number of changes and limitations are still in place to ensure staff and visitors are safe. We’re doing our part to keep you safe; please review the changes as well as the guidlines for participants to help us prevent the spread of germs at the MAC and keep our community healthy and our facility open.
Reduced shared surfaces by closing rear entry doors and encouraging use of existing contact-free facilities in restrooms. Signs direct guests to automatic front entry button to avoid touching doors. Hand sanitizing stations have been added throughout the facility for additional cleansing.
As per the current restrictions, the MAC will be operating at reduced capacity. Each classroom will also be following individual occupancy limits, and many class sizes will be reduced to accommodate as well as allow for greater social distancing. All rental bookings are subject to the state-mandated gathering limit. As such, rentals are not currently accepted. As that limit increases, rentals will reopen.
Increased time between classes allows for additional cleaning and fewer interaction between participants. Some classes may also have slight operational changes to reduce or eliminate the use of shared surfaces like mats and group equipment. Please be patient with your instructors as they adjust to these changes. Some high-touch and/or high-contact programs cannot adequately function under the current restrictions and will not return to our schedule until it is safe to do so.
Gym sports have reduced player capacity to limit exposure. All players must bring their own equipment and follow capacity guidelines. Basketball is limited to recreational shooting with no more than two people per hoop, with a max of 12 in the gym at one time during full-court open gym. During half-court open gym, no more than six may be in the gym. Pickleball allows single or doubles play, with a max of 24 in the gym at one time during full-court games. For half-court games, no more than 12 players may be in the gym.
Nature Education programs at Oliver Nature Park will resume in phases based on the participants and class setup. Classes that allow for social distancing and do not use shared equipment will proceed as planned with minor adjustments as needed. Staff will continue to reassess on a program-by-program basis and conduct each as best suited for the material and the current restrictions.
3 SUMMER 2020
PROGRAM & FACILITY CHANGES Please keep social distance from other patrons at all times when in the facility. Seating in the gym and lobby area has been reduced to limit gatherings and reduce shared surfaces. Guests are asked to arrive as close to class time as possible and have parents wait in the car when possible.
Sneeze guards have been installed at the front desk and additional hand sanitizing stations added throughout the facility for convenient use. Please wash hands before & after class and avoid shared surfaces. When possible, please come dressed for class to avoid changing in the restrooms.
Please stay home if anyone in your family is sick. Programs serving high-risk populations, such as Senior Lifestyles, will not resume at this time. Senior meal deliveries will continue, and more expanded programs will begin as soon as it is safe to do so.
Masks are encouraged whenever social distance isn’t possible. Some procedures have adjusted to limit staff contact; masks will be worn by staff when outside the lobby and interacting with guests or cleaning.
After careful evaluation by city leaders, event organizers and emergency management, the City Council decided to cancel the 2020 Rockin 4th of July event. This was not a decision made lightly, but one made in the best interest of the health and safety of everyone involved. Rockin 4th is always an amazing night of community and celebration, but there is simply no way to proceed with the social distance and cleaning protocols necessary to comply with the state restrictions and public health best practices. We are disappointed but stand by the importance of protecting our community’s health so we can all be around to celebrate many more holidays together in the future.
All special events this summer will be adjusted in accordance with the current guidelines for gathering size and social distance.
Further adjustments will be made as needed stay in accordance with all future changes and restrictions as they are issued; please check our website or social media for the most current guidelines. We appreciate your patience with our staff and instructors as we all work hard to offer our programs, enrichment and education while working hard to keep both staff and guests safe and healthy. For information related to our COVID-19 precautions, facility closures and changes or any other parks & recreation operations, please visit our website.
