● Property originally owned by Conway and Katherine Rose, who used it as their private weekend ranch ● Rose Park opened in 1996 as the first park developed under the newly-adopted half-cent sales tax ordinance approved by voters in 1992 ● Connection to Town and McKnight Parks added with opening of Walnut Creek Linear Park in 2007 ● Playground was replaced in 2010; all other amenities unchanged beyond repairs

PROJECT HISTORY
● Rose Playground identified in 2020 Master Plan for replacement with inclusive, signature playground due to heavy use and strong community sentiment ● $1.5 million allotted by City Council in 2021 to replace playground ● Master plan process begun to create overall plan for the best use of the space ● Plan includes Hardy Allmon Soccer Complex, which hosted MSA games from 1987-1996; Currently used for practices and private rentals only
