Manuel Garrido

Manuel Garrido is a theatre artist-educator who has been working internationally as a professional stage lighting designer on plays, musicals, dance and opera. In 2011 he moved to Singapore with his wife and started working at United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA-East) as a full time Lighting Designer for the Drama Department. Since he joined UWCSEA he has been developing a well-rounded approach to the planning and implementation of the lighting design within an educational institution covering the technical, the artistic and the pedagogical aspects. Lighting workshops are conducted every year in order to guarantee that students are familiar with fundamental concepts such as lighting angles, colour, and basic programming from GCSE. In 2013 Manuel designed Glass Anatomy《搭错车》a Chinese Musical at The Esplanade National Theatre in Singapore that also performed in the 3rd Original Musical Festival 2014 organized by the Shanghai Culture Square.
