QUALITIES & INTERESTS I’m an italian junior architect who graduated at the University of Architecture in Parma in 2012. I started my master studio in 2014 and I’ve done my erasmus year in Stuttgart. I consolidated my strong design skills by using the most required 2D and 3D software as well as rendering programs and, through the practice, i increased a growing problem solving orientation. Passion for architecture pushed me to change country, exploring different ways of approaching. I’m costantly searching for gaining new knolewge through reading, drawing, modeling, designing and practicing.

OV Hause

OV HOUSE is the chosen name for this six-floor plus attic building situated in the centre of Parma. The project starts from the idea of a structural system suitable to this kind of home, composed by beams and pillars to whom projections are hooked to create the apartment balconies. Inside this house there will be three different kinds of apartment: -studio apartment, for single -simplex, for young couple or small families -duplex, for big families with children. The project draws different types of facade: -east and west facades: relationship between solids and voids, depending on the specific needs of each type of apartment -north and south facades: high and narrow windows in correspondence to the toilets. Each part of the project is been studied in detail, from the stairwell to the covering, balconies and the attic.

The creation of a project in South Eastern Asia implies a deep understanding of the context in which we operate, of its resources and economic means. In the Cambodian one, in the building of a house we shall consider the functional features (e.g. life sustainability) as well as aesthetic features, so to allow a simple construction and reproduction, and at the same time easy to be customized. Considering this, we think that the most suitable material is bamboo, as the region has flourishing fields of it. Due to weather conditions and strong monsoons, palafittes and double-pitch roof are necessary in order to build a long-lasting structure; furthermore, bamboo is characterized by its strong resistance to flexion and compression, which is given by its parallel-oriented fibers and division in closed-sections. Overall, this can have positive implications on the population: in fact, if we grow a plant of bamboo next to the house, it will be possible in the next future to create more and more houses, giving continuity to the initial idea of serial reproduction. The inside is divided in two or more spaces by sliding panels, which permit a cosy atmosphere , or, at times, more privacy. The use of spaces is not given a priori, but it can change depending on the season or the moment of the day: beds are rollaway and openable panels are situated all over the house. In conclusion, our project includes both the possibility to be reproduced on a large scale, and the evolving chance to be adapted by its owners’ preferences.

Nanni Tower

The building examined is situated in Savignano sul Panaro, which lies on the borderline between Modena and Bologna, in Italy, on the top of a hill covered by grapevine. According to the project, the tower (the most ancient building) and the first extension will be transformed into the representative building of the winery, while the more recent structures will become the winery owner’s residence. There are lots of structural instabilities (mostly in the new residence area): to conserve and increase the value of the long history and the artistic and cultural side of the building we choose an approach close to the reclamation and the preserving of the buildings, which ar essential elements of the restoration. The representative building area is 180 mq on 3 levels: - ground floor: museum area - first floor: wine-tasting and store area -second floor: conference area. The residence is on 2 levels: - ground floor: living area (kitchen, living room)(double height) - first floor: bedrooms.

La Moretta

Moretta square is a very important empty space inside the Roman urban system. It is situated at the city centre border limit, and it occupies a space between Lungo Tevere, which is the external limit, and via Giulia, which takes directly to Vaticano and it represent the internal limit. The purpose was to bring back to life the area, once used as residential one. The project starts from the study of the most important monuments here in this place, like the church overlooking the square, in order to get in touch/relate with them. Therefore we create a library on the side of the square that looks onto via Giulia, and this building represent the symbol of the peculiarity of the area. In front of this side we resume the old residential character of the area and the ancient Rome tradition of the bottega, putting the commercial sector at the ground floor of the buildings. On this side we also positioned students residences, on the Lungo Tevere to point out the continuous limit of the project.

The project area is located on the most evident natural sign of the South Cadbury plain: a plain-looking hill with a flattened peak on the outskirts of this rural town where, according to the legend, the mystical castle of Camelot once stood, an exceptional location highly marked by the signs of the hill. Nature plays a fundamental role within the magical atmosphere we found on the top of the hill. Moreover, there are really amazing 360 degree views in every direction. So, we wanted to get stronger this peculiar relationship between nature and magic. Thus the project started from the will of an integration with the surroundings. The first step was to identify the common nature of all the principal elements: the circular shape. Circle is the main cross connection among them and it‘s also a symbol of perfection and the main link between nature and magic. It is no coincidence that all the medieval numerology is focused on numbers related with inscribed and circumscribed polygons. So, the compositional process is based on the main symbol of a King, his circular crown. We decided to follow the outline of a simple crown so that we make easily recognizable the functions and the meaning of the structure from far away. The “crown silohuette contributes to create a really iconic image that future generations will forever tie to the legend of King Arthur.

The new residential area fits into the structure and characteristic style of the surrounding buildings of Kalleberg. It continues the parallel line of the buildings to the slope, taking the urban grittiness and developing with the protective boundary and the Atrium building a confident autonomy and identity: - Protected district on the outskirts of Kalleberg. - Flexible building structures ensure the sustainable development quarters. - The neighborhood as a system of paths and squares. - Smaller neighborhood square as a beginning of a spatial and social melting pot. - Protected private spaces. - Protected public open spaces for communication / interaction. - Good networking of the living quarters to the local structure of Kalleberg and to the subsequent landscape area. - High structural and spatial identity of the place. - High residential value The strong greening of the area is taken up and continued grading path axes north-south link to KelterstraĂ&#x;e and KallebergstraĂ&#x;e through sequences of open spaces. A small neighborhood square formulated the beginning of the area where everyone can hangout and the central point to settle and maintenance the Community. Atrium courtyards are designed as green rooms and private gardens from ground floors to upstream .

La Cittadella

La Cittadella project concerns a bar situated in the park of the same name, which is surrounded by ancient city walls ruins. The goal of the project was to create a compact structure, efficient from the energetic perspective, that at the same time won’t ruin the enchanting scenery of this popular park. Therefore the selected materials are wood and glass, that fit perfectly for the area and also they allow the external part to be opened in summer and closed in winter. The whole structured based on a floor on the ground, without sub-structure or basement, reached by a staircase or a ramp. The main part is the inside, where the service block is located, the bar and the summer structure, covered by a roofing.

GraviTree is a coded growing and bending tree, demonstrating and re-creating the metabolism of a tree in its natural environment. Grasshopper and plug in tools such as Kangaroo and Anemone are used to derive an aesthetic object, resembling flexibility and smoothness, in its growing as well as final state of growth. Our final project was based on „Metabolism and Morphology“, an article by Michael Weinstock. He observes and analyses dynamics of natural metabolism and compares these to the development of morphing buildings and cities. His research includes many processes in the natural world. The one we chose to further look into was the growth of the tree. Our goal was to take his information and model a similar process in Grasshopper. We converted the biological steps that he mentions, into coded steps to recreate growth.

GraviTree

„In the natural world, form and metabolis, have a very different relationship. there is an intricate choreography of emergy and material that determines the morphology of living forms, their relations to each other, and which drives the self-organisation of populations and ecological systems.“ - Weinstock.
