有極限之意 termination,the end (n.)

Portfolio is a record of one designer's life.

It is a storybook. It is a process.

This features my design development. Chinese character 已 is one of the most representing word for my life, living and endless growth.

有止之意 until now(adv.)

The upper and lower Chinese characters are transformed from 已 , which presents the idea of a start, process and end.

The similarities of the characters outstand the changes and remaining part until now. The stroke in the word is the direct expression of such interpretation.

自己之意 oneself(pron.)

By using such simple articulation, I want to present my arts to everyone.

The temporary exhibitions can be independently accessed from the main lobby, and it is also possible to directly access the special exhibition from the atrium. Most visitors will begin their journey through the per manent exhibitions at the lower ground foor, but the loop can be easily reversed if they prefer to start at 2F and move in the opposite direction. All journeys will end in the main lobby.

CREATING THE TIDAL WAVE

Through our interior design vision, we assign further meaning to the wave, by introducing the force which generates and influences tidal wave movements: the moon. In fact, in a metaphorical sense, it is the gravitational pull of the moon which has created the tidal force of Shenzhen Wave, and which caused the high tides represented by the 'water drops' in the architecture. Within the building, the moon is represented in our interior design vision for the atrium - a nucleus at the core of the building which generates an energy that draws people towards it; an object which reflects the common purpose.

The moon is the poetic nucleus of the building - an element which exerts influence on the inhabitants, which draws people together, and which reflects the common purpose of ZTE.

EXPLORING THE HIDDEN ISLAND OF GEMS

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands and more than a hundred indigenous groups, many of which practice weaving as part of their culture. The art of weaving is not only a traditional Filipino craftmanship, but also a way of life. In Luzon, weaving is believed that this cultural practice is associated with the indigenious people’s bridge to the spirits who will help them attract good health and protection in the Earthly realm.

The aim of this project is to set up design logic and material language for designers to let building and space get into the resurrection cycle that in a different way that reserved the memories of society and individuals. The systematical design logic based on Material Driven Design Method and practice with the structure of Welbeck Street Car Park.

Designed by Michael Blampied and Partners in 1971 for department store Debenhams, Welbeck Street car park features a distinctive diamond-patterned facade made from prefabricated concrete. Its unusual design consists of a tessellated facade of prefabricated concrete polygons, the bottom point of each slotting alongside one of the corners of another. MATERIAL LANGUAGE OF AMBIGUOUSNESS - BORN FROM THE ASHES

BACKGROUND

PROPOSAL THESIS PROJECT

Waste has become one of the greatest issues that humans are facing in this century. While living in a modern society, we are getting increasingly wealthy and materialistic. Material things are easily disposed and destroyed which create a substantial amount of waste. This waste slowly increase the burden of our environment and will eventually lead to its destruction. People are becoming increasingly aware of how fragile our planet is, and new methods of recycling waste and reuse material s are becoming available. This phenomenon also occurred in the architectural aspect, when an architecture die (structural damage no longer proftable) construction and demolition waste (C&D waste) is created during the demolition.

Using waste material as the source material to form new material with the method of controlling the ambiguousness. Transite into new material will be the resurrection of the material and the cycle keep on and on.

This project is to propose a material language and logic with transition of material. Making use of the existing waste material in our daily life space, to neutralize and reform the waste into new material under logic and methods.

Ambiguousness is the key method of the new material language, transforming waste material into new material by controlling the recognizability after the transition, create the ambiguousness of the original stories and new form of the material. Ambiguousness are defned into 3 stage which are stacking, mixing combination and deformation.
