A pair of army cadets lounged on a stretcher before being called to duty in a mock accident during the 71st annual ceremonial review for the 1838 Royal Westminster Regiment held in the Haney Sewing & Sound parking lot this weekend.
Eighteen-year-old Andrew Zucchetto is entering adulthood in a big way, having graduated from high school Friday night then wrapping up his cadet career with another ceremony last Sunday afternoon. The Grade 12 Garibaldi Secondary student is crystal clear on what his future holds now. In January, he will enlist in the military. His decisiveness, determination, and discipline demonstrates just how far he’s come in seven years, back when his parents, Susan and Lui, first enrolled the selfproclaimed “problem” into the 1838 Royal Westminster Zucchetto Regiment army cadets. Back then, he was having problems in school and issues at home, said Mom, describing him as a headstrong, opinionated boy. Now, his proud parents were in the audience for both his graduation and then at the 71st annual cadet ceremonial review held in the Haney Sewing & Sound parking lot on Sunday, to watch as their youngest child began on his road to adulthood.
