It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see. Henry David Thoreau Perspective changes our everyday associations. Shifts in perception help us weave narratives from seemingly random objects. This experimenting art project aims to observe the site in a unique way than as usual by restricted the perspective and helping focus on those relative factors. The observation happened around the Site Gallery in the CIQ (Central Industrial Quarter) in Sheffield, which is a gathering place for UK-based visual artists and the educational space for young people from across the South Yorkshire to inspire involvement and enjoyment in contemporary art. By trying to reach what was said by Henry David Thoreau in my future landscape study, the main desire/factor/purpose has been taken out to enlarge and focus on throughout the whole undergraduate study.

Those who use this FOCUS installation to observe the CIQ could easily focus on the main characteristic of the site by narrow his/her views. The top view, as a result, reveals diverse keywords that represented different features in the CIQ site.

YEAR ONE | SPRING 2015 ACADEMIC| INDIVIDUAL | ONE SEMESTER Planting design as an art form; ecologically-turned, aesthetically aware. Planting design as an essential: creating healthy cities and liveable places. The re-design of the external space of the Hillsborough College has been undertaken with car-parking facilities provided at the front building. However, within the car park, an area of green space has been left untouched and offers exciting opportunities for re-design, which will improve the space both visually and functionally. The main purpose of this planting improvement is to integrate both people from the public and college students from the Hillsborough College with an educational featured woodland within the car park. 9/ HILLSBOROUGH COLLEGE CAR PARK REDESIGN YEAR ONE

The regeneration project provide 233 parking lots in total including 212 normal parking lots and 21 parking lots for blue badge holders. Circulations for pedestrian and vehicles have been separated to ensure the security of users. Native planting in the perennial and meadow areas create a soft informal palette that contrast with the strong lines of the car park and college. Nectar-rich species will create an improved space for wildlife and an opportunity for students to study the environment. Closed woodland creates an enclosed space, shielding the car park from view, allowing the user to be fully immersed in the space. Species such as Betula nigra ‘Heritage’ adds decorative interest with it’s beautiful peeling bark. Shade loving plants are low to the ground to emphasise the height and spread of the tree. The use of cool tones, creates an atmosphere of serenity, a calm place to explore between the toil of work and classes. SHARROW HUB COMMUNITY DESIGN

YEAR TWO | SPRING 2016 ACADEMIC| INDIVIDUAL | ONE SEMESTER Sharrow Hub is currently a vacancy land that lacks legibility and identity as a former brownfield site. This site is experiencing increasing social and ecological problems from the surrounding environment and historical issues and will, therefore, be replaced with a new community pioneer in Sharrow Ward in Sheffield. Originated from the Peak District, the Porter Brook River is across the whole Sharrow Ward, which was perceived as the main water resource for most surrounding industries during the Industrial Revolution. As people gradually gathered nearby those industries, many social and environmental issues including lacking active greens, poor living conditions and highly potential flooding have been gradually emerged and accumulated in this site. Therefore, this project aims to make rational use of existing ecological resources and historical heritages, improving the living environment and encouraging strong positive social connection within the community and gradually become a community landmark in Sharrow Ward.

According to the urban sprawl, the rise of Nottingham is inseparable from the development of the railway, that is, the importance of the railway to urban development.

L

HAL

The Island site is important to the Nottingham not only because the adjoining location to the Nottingham city centre and the railway station and the dynamic land use surrounded, but also because it is the proof of the history and the witness of the urban development, which both have the meaning of preservation and the value of regeneration.

KET

ROBIN

As the superb location and the diverse historical heritage surrounded, a new point of memory in the future should be designed in this place. How to become a valuable new landmark that the government is willing to pay for and have a positive impact on the surrounding residential areas should be a breakthrough point for regeneration and recreation.

Nottingham Train Station is about 5 mintues walk from the Island site.

The City Link road runs across the site from east to west. It is used regularly by cyclisys and forms an important link with the city's cycle network.

OH NOOOO!! This road is a dead end! Whereelse can we go??It is flooded and the vegetation here are so enclosed that nobody could even access.

1 The Island site contains various historical and social potentials such as the listed buildings, gas work relics, the surrounding dynamic land uses, canal ecological resources and etc. The sense of postindustrial environment made this place. However, due to the lack of government management and funding support, the island site remains untouched and occupied by uneco-friendly car parks. The inaccessibility, free growth of vegetations and economic depression let this site become a breeding ground for crimes and criminals. How to encourage local residents and visitors to use this huge potential oasis within the Nottingham city centre become the biggest issue for the design stage and the environment of the site is so desperate to be changed and improved.

The Island Renaissance that are designed for safety, heavily programmed on an ongoing basis and well maintained tend to attract residents whose presence serves as a crime deterrent. That means not just amenities like ball fields and cultural facilities but also the active involvement of the local community and sources of sustainable, ongoing funding. When parks are allowed to deteriorate, the decaying infrastructure and bad reputation of parks can turn them into magnets for crime. Critically, both program and landscape design must also reflect the broader community in which a park sits, creating public spaces where everyone from office workers to local teens can appreciate and enjoy the entire range of social, 41/ THE ISLAND RENAISSANCE YEAR THREE

And the island head and Star Lake Park is the future of the international water Shore will be the soul and core, the frontier fertile ground for urban development. The intent of the design was to create a refuge in the city, a unique destination for relaxation, recreation, business and leisure. Xiacheng district is an old city centre in Hangzhou and contains lots of time footprints which are ingrained among the local residents. However, part of the area remains abandoned and has quite a few social and ecological issues. As a result, an open space landscape planning in Xiacheng become desperate for everyone live in there. Through this research project, it gives me opportunities to research and solve the real social issues. Also, the basic project management through client communications, setting up meeting details and conducting meeting memos has been improved through this project.

REGENERATION DESIGN & DETAIL DESIGN PUDONG DISTRICT, SHANGHAI OFFICE PROJECT | SPRING 2019 - AUTUMN 2019

The grounds of the Wellington International College in Shanghai include a golf course and woodland in addition to playing fields. However, it is a huge challenge that the regeneration of the play space should meet the dynamic needs of the wide range of year group students. As a result, an inspirational new path has been created to integrate play, education, ecology and landscape. The caring, learning community develops well-rounded individuals with strong values and the skills and identity to thrive within an ever-changing world. During this regeneration project, the integrity process from the design stage and communicating with the client to the production in the real world has been clarified. 47/ WELLINGTON INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE REGENERATION PROJECT OFFICE WORK
