The Silverton Runners Club, which celebrated its 40th anniversary earlier this spring, will be in charge of the 2022 Oktoberfest fun runs on Sunday. “The fun run is back with a lot of changes and, we hope, improvements,“ said Steve Ritchie of the Silverton Runners Club.

David Castle will be the race director, with Ritchie, Rick Stucky and Erik Cross helping out. Proceeds from the event will benefit cross country pro grams at Silverton, Kennedy and Gervais high schools. Athletes from the three schools will serve as volunteers.
The races, a 10-kilometer and a 5K, moved from Saturday to Sunday. “There is less traffic around the festival on Sunday morning. And we changed the course so that both the 5K and the 10K are within the city limits so vehicles will not be speeding around runners,” Ritchie said. The races will use Kennedy High as the start and finish point.
Saturday Offers Golf Tournament
Pre-registration is $35 for the 10K and $30 for the 5K. Day-of-the-race signups are $40 and $35. Runners 21 and older get an Oktoberfest pint glass and a beer. Sign up at oktoberfest.org/oktoberfest-running-events/.
