FESTIVAL IN PARK 214

Perhaps you would like to make a weekend of it. The Oregon Garden Resort is nearby where you can get spa treatments or walk through 80 acres of beautiful gardens. You can also stay in the heart of downtown at the Silverton Inn & Suites or several of our bed & breakfasts. Take the time to meander the streets of Silverton to shop and dine in unique shops and historic buildings. You can also take a walking tour of the many murals that reflect the history of the town. Silver Falls State Park is just a short drive away. Whether you enjoy antiques, shopping, soaking in culture or nature, the city of Silverton has much to offer on Festival Weekend. The proceeds of our Festival support the non-profit Silverton Arts Association in their mission to promote art education through its Art – based Preschool and art classes for children and adults. If you are interested in any classes or in other projects involving SAA, visit our website at www.silvertonarts.org or like us on Facebook. Silverton is a uniquely wonderful town and a weekend enjoying art in the park is well worth the trip. We guarantee you’ll be back!

Roth’s North Lot

There are three parking lots for the festival. Special trolleys pick up from parking lots and select stops from 11am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

This is a wonderful family friendly event. Children can entertain themselves with hands-on activities under the pavilion, and artists will also demonstrate their craft tell their stories and answer questions. The Silverton Poetry Association will have events throughout the park. You can witness the restoration in the park of the mosaic fountain made possible with a grant from the Ford Foundation.

(SPA) booth will feature an exhibit of Ekphrastic poetry – poems inspired by works of art. The display will include both prints of paintings and the poems written in response (e.g., Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” which has been poetically rendered many times). SPA members will be available to discuss the painting/poem displays with booth visitors. SPA will also offer prompts and materials for festival visitors to do their own writing on works of art viewed at the festival. And several “poetrees” (poems posted on trees) will be posted throughout the park by the Association. The mission of the Silverton Poetry Association is to celebrate and further the art of poetry by sponsoring poetry readings, poetry classes and workshops, open mic readings, poetry publications, and other poetry events and initiatives in our community.
