WELCOME TO OUR 17th FESTIVAL! The Seventeenth Annual Silverton Fine Arts Festival is upon us. We are excited that the Festival falls on August 19th & 20th, the weekend preceding the Big Eclipse! The quaint, historic town of Silverton is located in the path of totality so we anticipate many new visitors to the area. We hope each of you will take the opportunity to become acquainted with our little town. There are a number of things to see and do. You can relax with a spa treatment or walk through 80 acres of beautiful gardens at the nearby Oregon Garden Resort. You can also stay in the heart of downtown at the Silverton Inn & Suites or several of our Bed & Breakfast options. Take the time to meander the streets of Silverton to shop and dine in unique shops and historic buildings. You can also take a walking tour of the many murals that reflect the history of the town and visit our fine art galleries. Many establishments have decks overlooking the peaceful Silver Creek where you can sip wine and enjoy the sunset. Silver Falls State Park is just a short drive away. Whether you enjoy antiques, shopping, soaking in culture or nature, the city of Silverton has much to offer on Festival Weekend. Nestled in the shade of oak trees in Silverton’s Coolidge-McClaine Park, the Silverton Fine Arts Festival brings together 90+ fine artists, each with their own unique talent. Stroll through the booths and experience the colors and textures of art in the park. Visit our artist-demonstrators and learn the intricacies of their craft and witness the time and effort that goes into their pieces. You and your children can play and create at the ArtZone located at the Pavilion. Then find respite under the canopy where you can enjoy food and beverages and listen to talented local musicians. The Silverton Poetry Association will also have interesting events throughout the park. Across from the park is the home of the Silverton Arts Association and the Borland Art Gallery. Here we have monthly exhibits of our talented local artists. We also provide classes for all ages. The proceeds of our Festival support the Silverton Arts Association in its mission to nurture and promote art in the community and art education. If you are interested in any classes, becoming a member, or any other project involving SAA, visit our website at www.silvertonarts.org or like us on Facebook.
This year’s Festival takes place the weekend preceding the Great American Eclipse. Due to the added influx of people, we are partnering with the Oregon Garden and The Chamber of Commerce to offer free shuttles around town and, of course the Festival. At the time of this printing, all the routes and stops had not been determined. Check our website: silvertonarts.org for updates, parking details and shuttle schedules as the event approaches.
Silverton Fine Arts Festival 2017
We hope you enjoy the time you spend with us. Come back often! We would like to thank all our sponsors and volunteers for their support and assistance. We couldn’t do it without you!

LAMBENT CREATIVE ASHLEY SCHAECHER ALOHA, OR • 2D/POSTER ART lambentcreative.net
ABOUT THE POSTER ARTIST Ashley Schaecher is an illustrator, dreamweaver, artist, plus graphic designer. As an illustrator and as a person, Ashley is so proud to be such a big part of the Silverton Fine Arts Festival this year. She grew up in the neighboring town of Mt. Angel and takes great pride in her work as well as her home community. Ashley is known to dabble in a variety of mediums; from crafts and sculpture, to drawing and painting. At the age of four, she was inspired by the works of her mother and grandmother to pursue the arts. At age 23, Ashley’s work is inspired by the world around her; emotionally, physically, and spiritually. In school or when working with clientele, much of her work is more practical or conceptual. During her free time or with personal projects, Ashley allows her mind to go wild and pull concepts from memories, the environment, and feelings; creating a variety of collections and pieces to share with the world. “As a local-born and a passionate illustrator, I am so excited to work with the artists of the Silverton Arts Association and to make an impact on my home community.”

THE SILVERTON POETRY ASSOCIATION For about the last ten years, The Silverton Poetry Association (SPA) has contributed to the Fine Arts Festival by adorning many of the Coolidge Park trees with poems. “Poetrees” has been well received by fairgoers and artists alike. The idea of Tree Poems was inspired by the Shakespeare play As You Like It, in which young lover Orlando roams through a forest hanging poems honoring his beloved Rosalind. The poetry is various, usually thematically focused (love, art, nature, seasons), combining work by regional and national poets, present and past, across cultures and countries. Some years SPA has sponsored scavenger hunts or other light competitions, awarding prizes for locating poems based on clues. This year’s poems will include musings on the Summer Solar Solstice.
