Be sure to check out the booth for this year’s poster contest winner Hollie Newton! Her paintings evoke subtle feeling and emotion. Newton’s piece deals with dream imagery, memory, and contemporary issues in creating the focus image for the 2018 Fine Arts Festival poster. During a period of several months glazes were applied in thin transparent oil layers, imbuing the art with depth and glow. The process of creation is a dance between artist, artwork, and the viewer. If you would like to learn more about what we do at the Silverton Arts Association, are interested in taking art classes, becoming a member, or any other projects involving SAA, visit our website at silvertonarts.org or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter: @silvertonarts. We hope you enjoy you’re the time you spend with us. Come back often! We would like to thank all our sponsors and volunteers for the support and assistance; we couldn’t do it without you!

Shaded by oak trees and providing a scenic natural landscape, the heart of the Coolidge-McClaine Park serves as the premiere location for the Silverton Fine Arts Festival. An abundance of diverse food options, refreshing beverages, unique art, and fine entertainment is available for all festival attendees to enjoy. This year we are featuring 95 artist vendors, 8 food vendors, and a beer and wine vendor. Festival attendees can create their own works of art at the pavilion where we will host exciting art activities. If you’d like to help us nurture and promote art within the community, please participate in our silent auction with donations from our artist vendors and sponsors to help fundraise for the Silverton Arts Association.
Mill St.
There are four parking lots for the festival. Special trolleys pick up from parking lots and select stops from 11am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
The Silverton Arts Association welcomes you to the best small town Fine Arts Festival in the beautiful state of Oregon. This Festival is a celebration of the greater arts community and presents a wide variety of artwork done by our talented contributing artists. As the major source of income that allows the Silverton Arts Association to support the arts through community engagement and education, we are deeply grateful to all those who have sponsored this event— we couldn’t do this without you!

salem, OR • 2D/POSTER ART
ABOUT THE POSTER ARTIST Hollie Newton, is a resident of Salem Oregon. She paints, teaches art, and occasionally does illustration. Her goal for the future is to help bring sustainable, quality art programs to the K-12 youth of Oregon while continuing to paint and teach. She studied at San Francisco Art Institute, BFA program, Painting. Hollie Newton’s paintings evoke feeling and emotion. Newton works with dream imagery, memory and subtle contemporary issues. During a period of several months glazes are applied in thin transparent oil paint layers; imbuing the art with depth and glow. The process of creation is a dance between artist, artwork, and the viewer. The piece itself is a lovely metaphor for the creative process, this sheet of music folded into a paper airplane, soaring over a sunset-saturated horizon. What was especially compelling to us was the story of how it came to be. This image was part of a larger canvas piece that “never really came together,” the artist told us. On a whim she cut this particular image out and submitted it for consideration.
