Be sure to check out the booth for this year’s poster contest winner Laura Koppes! Her paintings evoke dreamlike images that are at once distant yet pleasingly familiar. Koppes’ beautiful winning piece deals with abstract yet specific landscape imagery. She uses a very gorgeous and thoughtful color palette in creating the focus image for the 2019 Fine Arts Festival poster. If you would like to learn more about what we do at the Silverton Arts Association, are interested in taking art classes, becoming a member, or any other projects involving SAA, visit our website at silvertonarts.org or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter: @silvertonarts. We hope you enjoy the time you spend with us. Come back often! We would like to thank all our sponsors and volunteers for the support and assistance; we couldn’t do it without you!

Shaded by oak trees and providing a scenic natural landscape, the heart of the Coolidge-McClaine Park serves as the premiere location for the Silverton Fine Arts Festival. An abundance of diverse food options, refreshing beverages, unique art, and fine entertainment is available for all festival attendees to enjoy. This year we are featuring over 90 artist vendors, over 6 food vendors, and a beer and wine vendor. Festival attendees can create their own works of art at the pavilion where we will host exciting art activities, and visit our Teen Zone featuring artwork from local Silverton schools. If you’d like to help us nurture and promote art within the community, please participate in our silent auction with original artwork donated by our artist vendors to help fundraise for the Silverton Arts Association.

FROM THE POSTER ARTIST I am a full-time artist and parttime docent at the Portland Art Museum. I have a background in art instruction and have taught at children’s after school classes and camps. I have always had art in my life in one form or another, but started painting seriously about 9 years ago–just for myself. I started doing a few shows a year and now do about 15. This is my third year at the Silverton show. It is one of my favorite ones to do because it is so low key and everyone is so positive! The painting that was chosen for the poster is of Blue Basin in the Painted Hills. I went there 3 years ago after looking at photos of it for years. I was sure that I would be disappointed–it couldn’t possibly be as beautiful as pictured...but it was!
