INTRODUCTION

Odyssey Music & Video is the Philippine’s largest retailer of music, video, and entertainment lifestyle accessories. It is a 100% Filipino-owned corporation, with its first store opening at Shoppesville, Greenhills back in 1977. In the early 80’s, Odyssey opened its branches in malls nationwide. More than 30 years later, it has grown to around 70 locations and has become a trusted brand, well-known for its great customer service, exclusive releases, innovation, great selection and affordable prices. Odyssey offers a wide range of products including music albums, movies, accessories, gadgets and others in their retail stores nationwide, as well as through their online website, OdysseyLive. Through this distribution methods, Odyssey is able to widen their reach to their market and provide their customers with a convenient and holistic shopping experience.

LOGO DESIGN CURRENT LOGO The current logo is set in an indistinct typeface that doesn’t connect well with the brand’s values and offerings, furthermore its branding application is inconsistent throughout different media which affects its market recall.

PROPOSED LOGO The proposed logo aims to solve the problems of the current logo and push the brand further by having a distinct look that could relate to the target market. It is made more distinct through an icon and a customized logotype designed to look modern, dynamic and innovative, which makes the brand more recognizable as a music, video and gadget store. The logo also retained some elements of the previous logo, such as the color, to maintain recognizability of the brand.

GRAPHIC ARCHITECTURE PARTS The icon is designed based on the idea of fusing the letter O with a spinning disc and the play button. The logotype is designed based on circles and rounded sans serif fonts, giving it the appropriate modern and user-friendly look.

BASIC RULES OF USE LOCKUPS Whenever possible, the logo used in all materials and communications should be the primary logo. In situations where the primary logo will not fit or when the icon needs to be separated from the logotype, these alternate logo lockups can be used.

MARGINS & CLEAR SPACE Gray area indicates safe zone. Other visual elements can be safely positioned from here onwards.

The white area must be kept free of all other graphical and visual elements to ensure logo’s noticeability and legibility. The distance of the logo to the gray area is determined by the x-height.

MINIMUM SIZE Minimum width should be no less than 3.0cm, with the height in proportion. Minimum size restrictions ensure that the logo is always clearly legible.

INCORRECT USAGE To ensure brand consistency and logo legibility, the general rule is: do not alter, change or modify any part of the logo and the alternate logo lock-ups.

DO NOT: resize or change the position of the icon in the logo and the alternate logo lock-ups.

DO NOT: use any other font besides the customized logotype, however similar it looks like with the logotype.

DO NOT: stretch, skew or distort the logo in any way. Any resizing must be in proportion.

DO NOT: switch the logo’s colors or change them completely. Do not use any other colors on the logo besides those specified in the color application.

DO NOT: apply gradients, thick stroke outlines, bevel and emboss effects or heavy drop shadows on the logo.

DO NOT: place the full color logo on backgrounds with colors similar to the ones used in the logo and those that provide low contrast for the logo.

DO NOT: place the logo on a busy background and observe positive and negative applications when using it on a photo.

DO NOT: place any graphics, patterns or images inside the logo.

DO NOT: put other visual elements on the logo or anywhere very close to it. Always observe the logo’s clear space guidelines.

VISUAL IMAGERY ICONOGRAPHY These icons were illustrated to showcase the wide selection of products available in Odyssey today. These could be used in different brand applications such as in advertisements, promotional items, in-store visuals, etc.

PHOTOGRAPHY For a more authentic brand experience, product photography will be utilized in advertisements and other brand application purposes. Products should be shot on white or any brand color background and arranged neatly but as natural as possible when doing the flat layout style.

GRAPHICS To add a more fun and graphic personality to the brand, these graphic elements from the logo and brand patterns could be added on advertisements, collaterals, and other applications.
