The SEVC 2017 Conference invites veterinarians to submit abstracts either as FREE COMMUNICATIONS relating to clinical research, both prospective and retrospective, or CASE REPORTS that present new or alternative information of interest to small animal or exotic animal clinicians. Case reports should be based on three or more clinical cases of the same disease. All abstracts must be presented in poster format. Original work only will be accepted. 1. REGISTRATION OF THE FREE COMMUNICATION OR CASE REPORT • To send your free communication or clinical case study, go to www.sevc.info. • All personal details of the main author must be included in the author registration form. Work can be presented with multiple authors, however only one person can be registered as the main author for presentation and contractual purposes. • The summary, the poster and the poster presentation
6
of the work will only be accepted in English or Spanish. The presentation summary must be received by 16 May 2017. Summaries are to be submitted using the templates provided for each case (1,200 words maximum, including the biography). Summaries should adequately describe the objectives and results of the work in order to evaluate quality and originality. • Only one graphic or digital photographic representation of the work will be admitted.
2. EVALUATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK Once the summaries have been evaluated, the authors will be informed as to whether or not their essay has been accepted within 8 weeks of the acceptance deadline. In some cases, or when considered necessary, authors will be asked to make modifications or corrections to some aspects of their poster. This means that the newly revised poster will have to be resubmitted, with new deadlines to be specified to each author. Summaries
received after this date will not be included in the Conference programme.
3. REGISTRATION FOR THE SEVC 2017 Once an essay has been accepted its main author can and indeed must register for the SEVC 2017 Conference before the 16 October 2017. 4. PRESENTATION OF THE WORK DURING THE CONFERENCE Free Communication and Case Report studies are to be presented in POSTER FORMAT and will be exhibited throughout the Conference, from 9-11 November 2017 in Barcelona. The main author of the essay must be present in front of the poster on 10 November 2017. We recommend making A4 copies of the poster
to be available for distribution to interested parties and to the evaluators. 5. AWARDS Posters will be awarded prizes in three categories: • Best free communication (open topic); • Best case report; and • Best recent graduate presentation (first author must be no older than 29). GRANADA, 20-22 October 2016
SEVC Workshops 2017
The SEVC’s workshops are another unique feature that enable delegates to gain hands-on laboratory experience and learn new techniques by working in small groups with world-class instructors using the latest equipment on the market.
The workshops will be presented in English, but instructors will provide assistance with other languages. Registration for the workshops does not require registration for the SEVC Scientific Programme. The SEVC workshops and laboratories adhere strictly to the ethical oversight directions and approval under Spanish regulations in t heir use of live animals. The number of animals used is always minimal. Every effort is made to avoid situations and procedures that would cause anxiety and pain in the animals, and appropriate sedation and analgesia are used whenever necessary. No animal will be euthanised to meet the needs of any SEVC workshop.
Preliminary list of labs for SEVC 2017:
• Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Cytology and Blood Smears, But Were Afraid to Ask!
• Canine Abdominal Ultrasonography • Ultrasonographic Identification of Abdominal Pathologies. Clinical Cases • Challenging Cases in Thoracic and Abdominal Radiology • What Should a Practitioner Know When Viewing MRI and CT Images of Clinical Cases? Other preliminary workshops:
