Fame A Call To Worship

Mark 1:21-28 English Standard Version

Leader: They went to Capernaum; and when the sabbath came, Jesus entered the synagogue and taught People: The people were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Leader: Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God People: But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. Leader: They were all amazed, and they kept on asking one another, “What is this? A new teaching— with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” People: At once his fame began to spread throughout the surrounding region of Galilee.

Jesus, Jesus: Oh What A Wonderful Child Jesus, Jesus Oh what a wonderful child Jesus, Jesus So lowly meek and mild New life, new hope, new joy he brings Won't you listen to the angels sing Glory, glory, glory To the new born king Born in a lowly manger The virgin Mary was his mother And Joseph was his earthly father, oh Three wise men came from afar They were guided by a shining star To see king Jesus where he lay In a manger filled with hay Jesus, Jesus Oh what a wonderful child Jesus, Jesus So lowly meek and mild (New life, new hope) Oh, new joy he brings Won't you listen to the angels sing Glory, glory To the new born king

A Meditation On Tithing And Giving Reverend Nathaniel Veal

Leader: Please stand as you are able and raise your seed to the Lord and repeat these lines after me— Lord, I thank you for what you have given to me. Now God, I am giving back to you a tithe, a tenth, or a portion of what you have given to me. God, I am planting my seed into fertile ground. I cannot expect a harvest, if I do not plant any seeds. God, I am expecting my seeds to produce a harvest that is pressed down, shaken together and running over. Leader: Now, whatever you want God to do for you in your life, cross it over your chest and claim it. And Now Thank God For It! And let us all say…. Amen! Leader: Now, let us give our offering to the Lord Following the offering the congregation will rise at the direction of the Pastor and sing:

#588 All Things Come Of Thee All Things Come of thee, O Lord; and of thine own 4 have we given thee – Amen

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead; and buried. The third day he arose from the dead’ he ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Church Universal, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life 5 everlasting. Amen.

Mark 1:21-28 New Living Translation

21 Jesus and his disciples went to the town of Capernaum. When the Sabbath day came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority—quite unlike the teachers of religious law. 23 Suddenly, a man in the synagogue who was possessed by an evil[a] spirit cried out, 24 “Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are— the Holy One of God!” 6

Mark 1:21-28 New Living Translation

25 But Jesus reprimanded him. “Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered. 26 At that, the evil spirit screamed, threw the man into a convulsion, and the evil spirit came out of him. 27 Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened. “What sort of new teaching is this?” they asked excitedly. “It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey his orders!” 28 The news about Jesus spread quickly throughout the entire region of Galilee and his fame grew. 7
