The most profound of Shostakovich’s ‘War Symphonies’ echoes the suffering of 1943 on a tremendous scale, ferocious and harrowing. A statement of personal grief amid mass devastation, the poignant ending yearns not for heroic victory, but for peace. Ning Feng returns to astonish WASO audiences with his effortless, soaring virtuosity in Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto.
Join WASO as they entwine their music around the acrobatic limbs of Circus Oz in a spectacular fusion of two extraordinary and dramatically different art forms. Be swept up by the power of the live orchestra as Australia’s daredevil stunt masters defy the laws of physics, tickle your funny-bone and push the boundaries of impossibility.
