Task Generation
of a sensitive urban extension for up to 3,000 residential dwellings and Science Park extension, creating a destination point to the city and delivering a high quality sustainable development.
LSouth ocality Oxford, United Kingdom Date January 2017 - April 2017 This project generates a sensitive urban extension for up to 3,000 new homes and Science Park extension in South Oxford’s urban edge. The designed masterplan respond to creating a destination to the south of the city, and revive the character of the area by delivering a high quality sustainable development. The project site is divided into four different character areas, where various housing densities and related green infrastructure solutions have been delivered. Housing density increases at the centre of the development and the District Centre, and decreases towards the edges generating a constantly changing landscape with multiple housetypes and flats. In order to achieve sustainable development, transport infrastructure has been improved and various green infrastructure solutions have been delivered throughout the development area.

LLeeds ocality urban waterfront, United Kingdom Date June 2015 - September 2015 This study explores the potential links between physical activity and urban design and their positive benefits on health and wellbeing of the population living in a development area in Leeds. The main theme is how active design can be used to develop an urban design framework that provides evidence on the relation of built environment attributes to physical activity, and thus increasing citizens’ general health. In order to achieve this, desk-based research is utilised to describe key concepts that could increase physical activity; and a site analysis to enable the identification of the design challenges and the core issues of the selected area.

Street furniture, signage and bicycle paths are arranged to create a coherent legible and accessible space to users. The use of street furniture and public art will add visual interest and enhance the sense of place and comfort while engaging and stimulating activities. Crossing points with risk of pedestrian-vehicle collision will be appropriately designed to ensure safe crossings for pedestrians by applying traffic calming measures, such as pedestrian islands, raised bulbs or reversible car lanes; allowing a better traffic volume management and generating a pedestrian friendly environment that provides a safe route for all ages along the riverside.

The generation of a public park will connect the development site with the city centre through a pedestrian bridge, in addition to become a community hub placed across the promenade that will flow along the waterfront. In order to attract activity and create a sensory-rich environment the area will be provided with public art and high quality street features, generating suitable recreational spaces for neighbours of all ages.

The proposed development will provide connections between the river and the city centre ensuring street life and movement throughout. The former car parking lot has been converted into a much greener space, accommodating new walking and cycling paths, and offering intimacy and comfort to pedestrians. This particular area provides an appropriate sense of visual enclosure that offers views of the river from the street level and provides a great opportunity to draw people’s attention towards the waterfront. It also generates a straight link between the riverfront and the heart of the city centre, providing pedestrian mobility across and accommodating a range of recreational facilities that encourage ownership of place while creating more intimate communal spaces.
r e w e r y P la z a B d l O The main goal of this design was to create a public open space suitable for all type of activities. The square is intended to become an attractive intermediate destination for promenade users where they can meet, talk, play and hang out. The accommodation of leisure facilities such as bars and restaurants can extend the atmosphere of the waterfront into the surrounding areas, generating a vibrant street life and improving safety and security level of pedestrians. The plaza has been divided in two parts, the northern area can be used for various cultural and commercial events and the southern part serves as a rest area with lawns and trees. It will provide space for outdoor venues such as performance of music, street entertainment or outdoor markets. These independent programs together with the surrounding seating areas, along with the existing public art present in the area, may encourage the see-and-to-be-seen interaction with the visitors becoming a popular pedestrian node along the waterfront.

The proposed development for this site will reactivate the former wood dock which has been unused for a long time. The space has been transformed into a public green open space accommodating a community facility building with space for restaurants and cafes at the first level, as well as generating space for both active and passive recreational activities. In order to provide a usable space accessible to all, the development site has been connected both the southern riverside promenade and the Knight’s Way footbridge through a pedestrian bridge and a boardwalk platform respectively. Both access points have been designed to provide an easy accessible to all range of users, abolishing the use of stairclimbing and providing a high quality pedestrian experience across. The implementation works also will enhance the quality of the promenade by adding special features such as public art and artistic street design features, generating a more appealing and animated pedestrian experience which encourage people to walk along and enjoy the waterfront. The facilities located in the island will also generate recreation options to people of all ages creating experiences for all, such as through organising programs to promote physical activity to increase both park use and the number of visitors to the area.

challenges and solutions.
LLeeds ocality city centre, United Kingdom Date February 2015 - June 2015 The topic of this project poses connectivity and legibility issues for this area located in the heart of Leeds city centre. Within an area of 10 min walk many different characters can be found, providing entertainment, shopping, offices, housing and education. In many areas, the impact of the ring road and the car dominated streets along with the enclosed facilities around, generate neglected areas that cause both physical and visual barriers creating pedestrian movement difficulties. The proposed idea is based on the enhancement of places for people, pedestrianising and redesigning the street network to establish a more pedestrian friendly environment and vibrant streetlife able to recconnect and revitalise the area both with the city centre and its peripheral districts.

This is a collection of my most recent sketches and illustration which illustrate my current graphical skills as well as my understanding and intense passion in the built environment. Cities are exciting and complex places, their intricacies and workings have always captured my imagination. I believe the quality of the urban environment has a major impact on our daily experiences and interactions and by extension, our quality of life. We must strive to create vibrant and unique places which capture the imagination and encourage people to engage with each other and the spaces around them.
