MARC BORI HERNÁNDEZ Urban Designer
Building Engineer
Trained as an urban designer and building engineer, my combined qualifications produce an optimal set of skills for placemaking at both strategic levels and detailed design. I place emphasis on producing innovative design that responds to people’s needs, integrating the design into its surrounding context. People-Place interrelationships are my primary focus in order to improve the responsiveness of future design proposals to help produce creative spaces that address the increasingly important emphasis on sustainability. I have good experience working on experience designing residential and mixed use schemes at various stages of development. This includes the generation of Design and Access Statements, appearing at Public Consultation events and developing related graphic material for these events. I have a keen eye for detail and story-telling, which are skills I apply both to the visual representation aspects of the work I produce. This can be seen in the presentations, documents, signage, and infographics I have delivered.

MARC BORI HERNÁNDEZ PROJECTS
Science V illage, Oxford This project generates a sensitive urban extension for up to 3,000 new homes and Science Park extension in South Oxford’s urban edge. The designed masterplan respond to creating a destination to the south of the city, and revive the character of the area by delivering a high quality sustainable development. The project site is divided into four different character areas, where various housing densities and related green infrastructure solutions have been delivered.
W estern Park, Northampton This urban extension project for up to 2,500 residential dwellings allowed me to explore my ability to respond to opportunities for a site in West Northampton. The generation of a strong connection between north and south of the development has been done through green and ‘blue’ corridors, shared public spaces, and an improved transportation infrastructure, allowing the park to an anchor for community life and creative interaction.
Southbank, Leeds Southbank in Leeds was the main focus for the Final Masters Urban Design Project during my Postgraduate level. The project theme was urban waterfront regeneration, for which I produced a technical study and design and access statement. The project focused on the links between health and urban design, and the positive benefits of physical activity for populations living in urban environments. The outcomes for this report are the identification of the role that active design guidelines can play in generating healthier cities in order to i mprove the quality of life and health in urban areas.
