KAIRA LOORO WOMEN’S HOUSE

Based on local building traditions and designed to be built by the community, the Open Women’s House creates opportunities for gender equality by providing women with a place of belonging and dialogue. The public atrium is expressed by a grandstand placed to spread consciousness, promote encounters, exchange experiences, and propagate women’s voices. From there, it is possible to walk through the collective activities spaces that reserve a semi-public atmosphere; while it can connects with the atrium, it also can be closed for reserved activities, as they are designed to hold Kaira Looro International Competition - Finalist

Authors: Marcela Sutti, Adenir Filho Site: Baghere, Senegal - 2021 Software: Archicad, SketchUp, Vray, Photoshop, InDesign seminars, workshops, and exhibitions through open, changeable, and permeable environments. At the extremes of the building are the most private spaces of the house, on the left, the management room, and on the right, the dialogue room, both with a more intimate atmosphere. The project considers sustainability principles in several areas: environment, architecture, construction, economy, and society. All of them applied through adequate sunlight and ventilation, the reuse of the excavated earth for use in the rammed earth walls, the frameworks reused in the structure, and rainwater collection through the impermeable patio and roof.

7 MARCELA SUTTI | ARCHITECTURE PORTOFOLIO

Open Women’s House prioritizes the use of natural materials from the land itself, from the surroundings, and produced by the community; thereby reducing transportation costs and strengthening the local commerce. Social sustainability is ensured by reducing gender disparities and promoting improved quality of life for women. The project articulates appropriate scale, techniques, and logistics to be executed through self-construction.

The project contributed to the social function of the abandoned building in an area of high urban infrastructure.

This project choice was made due to the streets which surround the building as it was in keeping with the commercial uses of the main avenue, whilst also preserving the privacy and tranquility of the flats.

Architectural Competition - Cultural Building Authors: Marcela Sutti, Maiara Oliveira e Vitória Pieri

The project is located in the city of São Paulo, the most populous in Brazil. The location takes into account the theme of the competition, choosing one of the most important cities in the global scenario. It was verified that the chosen lot does not fulfill its social function, for not taking advantage of its potential, with about 40 thousand m², which would hold the proposed program very well. The Factory of Ideas and

MIND BODY ENERGY CONCEPT FLOW BALANCE BASES

Innovation is outlined by three pillars that would compose the balance, a harmonious equality of forces. These would be: Mind, Body, and Spirit. In addition to the public area, the exhibition hall, the student exchange centre, the administrative area, and the technical and service areas; the project also includes a scientific and pedagogical area (mind), a sports area and a prototype workshop (body), and a social and activity area (energy).
