From my point of view i see architecture as a multidisciplinary practice wich in its broad field of action works with artistic disciplines, such relations have a very strong influence in my education. In my holistic vision of arquitecture, our development tools are broad; within them we find sensibility an ability which have helped me to face up several problems related to art itself, culture and society, letting me take a look far ahead from the usual stuff through reflection and analisys.

STATEMENT

As a result from the connection between both inherent disciplines, it arises an interest to look up between this connections and to learn from them to achieve such mental processes that back up and enrichen my vision of the discipline as such as its result in arquitecture with the purpose of havign an impact in my dat to day life. In its own practice, acumulated experiencies result as the most valuable part within the development of a proyect, this doesnt mean it takes away value from its conclusion, search and experimentation wich are the key to any practice wether its technical or artistical; the error that comes up from such experimentation and search of its virtuosity and originality that answers accordingly to the situation.

Watercolor and drawing are the tools that have allowed me to express my ideas; after years of practice and learning I have come to the conclusion that drawing and painting are not just about doing it well, the most important thing is to reflect the essence of our thoughts in what we do; understanding this was the most difficult. To start to create without the fear of thinking if what I was doing was correct or not was challenging because that thought was a limit that stopped my creativity, but when I was able to cross this barrier everything became easier, now

STATEMENT

I enjoy it even more. What I like to discover in this process are the connections between my mind and my hand; these mental processes unconsciously lead me to explore the material and the abstract, to see the non-existent, planes of light and shadow; this skill, in my way to become an architect, has affected my creative processes and my way of thinking and imagining, taking my mind to places, each time, further away from my consciousness.

Now my creativity (madness) and my hand have connected with my mind to express strongly my own language, to establish my own style and to express my way of seeing the world around me. Behind all this process I discovered that drawing manages to say more than an image or a text, a drawing comes from a part of our memory that we can not censor, educate, that can not lie, that’s why it will always be the most honest and innocent expression.

STATEMENT

With the purpose of experimentation, the cultural symbiosis resulting of the interactation through colaboration of several artistic disciplines, the following compilation has as purpose to expone several works that cover different mixed techniques, ink and watercolor, exposing the four year process of work and learning that resumes in a search that doesnt have as purpose to be a right guess, but to be a series of accidents that sum up learning based on creativity; key quality that i consider one must own and develop.

PROJECT C.E.S.M.A CESMA / SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE SPIRITUAL CENTER

THE PROJECT

was conceived with San Miguel de Allende in mind, a little town in Guanajuato located in central Mexico, this part of the country is known for its warm weather. The temperature oscillates between 80 to 85 Fahrenheit degrees; therefore it becomes the perfect destination to rest and for retirement. In addition to it is nice weather, streets surrounding downtown are special for its particular architecture, which have made several foreigners to call this place home.

The develop of the project consisted in attending the inherent necessity of tourists that live there, to design a resort & spa complex located 30 minutes outside the city. The first step of the process was to sustain all the ideas through an investigation based on introspection and meditation how architecture can incent this experience mixed with the program required. The process of generating the first ideas started with the approximation of the site. Dessert nature and mountains surround the chosen land for this intervention, it features a unique topography as a stepped surface, which allowed several design options.Â

To begin the conceptualization process it is important to understand the qualitative and quantitative necessities of the project. Which may not be a clear mix of ideas but definitely a strong and determined one. In fact I want to establish a dialog with the context but at the same time to keep an internal process of the meditation in to architecture. The result of this research is a kind of space which interact with the landscape but kept within the architecture. The project objective is to research the introspection and ourselves inner dialog through the context connection and helped by spaces, which invite us to meditate, and to reflect.Â

The project consists in two volume two floors and low level are separated by a garden, that are connected by suspended bridges where the project heart resides. The way to get into the project stars in the basement where the open space takes the visitor in to a hall of double height ceilings, this experience makes you think that the building burns in to the land taking place in a way where nature shows it’s presence as strongly as architecture, scarped surfaces allows float up bridges and the pool, with his the land only support the laterals volume.

Bedrooms are located in the volume third floor and in the second one are located the pool, temazcales, steam bath, yoga & meditations rooms. Several trails take visitors through the space into take the building going through the paly of many scales, making transitions during the way in to the heart of the project, double heights ceilings and transitions of light create the experience of being in and out to finally be outside.

Overall this process turn around a series of ideas understood as images and finally as the project; C.E.S.M.A. is a resume of process and objects which interact with the environment an the user in different scales giving privacy, but at the same time providing you with the ability to live in the site and to appreciate the landscape in a meditation process

“A good painter, well understood, God in his heart, he makes things holy with his heart he talks with his own heart [...] A bad painter, resentful heart People's indignation, cheater, he makes people sick of it He's always cheating [...] He paints things in vane His creations are dumb, made at random He vanishes the things faces
