Logging and graphic guide VCDS I will try to explain as easy as possible how to log your car and make a graphic from the results with excel. 1st Plug VCDS cable to OBDII port from car and to your laptop. 2nd Open VCDS program and start your car. 3rd In main menu, we press “select at select control module.

4th Now we have to enter at the engine module, so we click on 01-Engine.

5th Now, we have to enter to Measuring Blocks. We click on Meas. Blocks -08.

6th Now we have to choose the channel of data we want to log. For diesel engines the most common channels to log are: 001 IQ 003 Maf 011 Turbo boost. 010 At idle check atmospheric pressure. For petrol cars: 002 Maf 020 Ignition 031 lambda 115 turbo boost.

7th Once we have chosen the channels to log, click on the log button. I suggest changing the file name in order to organize your logs.

8th Now we have to drive in 4th gear on a flat road or in 3rd gear a bit up hill, from 1200 rpm (diesels) or 2000rpm (petrols) we click on start button with Wide Open Throttle till redline then we stop the log. 9th Now we have done the log, we search CSVConv.exe Search your file on your laptop and tell where to save the new organized file.

10th We open our file with excel, select the data you want to see the graphic. In my case the turbo.

We select at the upper menu Insert, and Line graphic

Now we see the graphic, we just do right click on the graphic and choose the option select data. We change the horizontal axis and select the data of rpm we obtained from the log. With the graphic we can check if the hardware does what the software says.
