Event Planning: Chilean Olympics opening 1.- Introduction This chilean opening is divided into three parts: Northern, Central and Southern places of Chile. The objective of these categories is to show the world the characteristics of each district of our country. We are supposed to take the best of our historical facts of the culture like music, poetry, typical costumes and the current status of the country including those big tragedies. The idea is to bring alive the feeling of people for all those who has passed away like Javiera Parra, Pablo Neruda and more. It is also important, not only the people who passed away, but also to recognize people who are still alive: That is the case of our anti-poet Nicanor Parra. There are also typical dances along Chile, so we are planning to show them all. This event will take place in the new stadium that will be built by 2019. For every part of the opening the setting will change. The use of lights will play an important role during the show because they are going to give the special effects of weather and movement of natural elements.
2.- First part of the opening: “Our roots” The first main theme of the opening is chilean roots. It begins with some natives dancing and screaming some of their songs. We plan to represent each ancient civilization (mapuches, atacameños, diaguitas, etc). The musicalization will be performed by BAFOCHI. Then, the independence of our country representing our “Heroes” (Bernardo O’higgins, Arturo Prat and more). Finally, there is a break in which democracy is broken and we restate Chilean democracy. 3.- Second part of the opening “Shiny Sun” We are going to divide Chile into three parts: Northern, central and southern. We are going to create a special environment in the central and south part. In the northern part, we are going to perform the typical dancing in those regions which is “Baile de la Tirana”. In this point of the show we are going to see cheerful dancers and musicians doing the ‘Diablada’, or “The dance of the devils”. A carnavalesque dance for demons. People wear fearsome customers and masks. We are sure that we will captivate the other people’s attention. As a second part, we will show the central part of our country. Now, we are going to see our typical chilean Dancing: “Cueca”. A hundred of people are going to dance at the same time. A part of that, we also are going to show our typical sport which is “Rodeo”. In this part of the chilean rodeo the best teams are going to represent the rodeo in the stadium and they will show that it is a very interesting sport. Finally, and as a third part of the show, we are going to see the south of our country. That means we will see our typical dance which is called “Cueca”. And also we are going to see the typical crafts and people from Chiloe who wear a very special clothes. With this typical things of our country we want to show to the world that we have beautiful people and typical things.
4.- Third and closure of the opening show: “Across the time” Finally, this opening will begin with the representation of our actual chilean culture. We are focused on the fact that Television has taken an important part of chilean culture. first of all, there will be an old TV show program called “sabados gigantes” with some of the most remarkable quiz show. after that, we continue with the chilean world cup which took place on 1962. we invited the band “los Ramblers” to perform the song “ El rock del mundial”. Then, we focused our attention on another important TV show which is TELETON. We invite one of the most important members of that foundation. Following with the opening, Cachureos will perform their soundtrack which is one of the most well known song of all time. finally, there will be presentation of the greatest chilean band of all time. These bands are “Los Prisioneros”, “los Bunkers” and a remix of the “Nueva OLA”. The closure will be performed by the president of the chilean republic, President Sebastián Piñera. After the speech, LOS JAIVAS will perform a set of three songs and the firework show starts. 5.- Presentation of the countries invited After the opening, we continue with the presentation of the representatives of each country. All this ceremony will be decorated with some Chilean music. Of course, each country will have its own flag. 6.- Dancers and performers Dancers and performers will be in charge of different academies and schools of different chilean artists like “Dance Academy of Rodrigo Díaz” and “Sing School of Myriam Hernandez”. Dancers and singers will practise weekly in order to do it perfect the day of the performance. Jugglers and acrobats will be seconds guests in this show. During the practice, the organizer will define the times and appearances on stage.
7.- LOGO This logo represents the chilean environment with a copihue, the blue sky, the sun and a tree.
