Key Stage 3 Event 2022
Earth Day Friday 8th April 2022
Sir John Talbot’s School World Earth Day The focus of the day was to raise awareness of local, national and global environmental issues facing the world today and how young people can make a difference. The date was chosen to tie in with World Earth Day on 22ⁿᵈ April 2022. It also provided a great opportunity for students to develop ‘soft skills’ such as communication, problem solving and teamwork skills. Students were able to choose from a wide range of over 20 workshops and trips including trips to local universities, The Natural History Museum and local farms. Students staying in school took part in workshops including composing music, sustainable fashion and renewable energy. The fundraising festival held on the 18ᵗʰ February raised over £1,000 towards transport costs, entry fees, external workshops and resources. As a reward for the resilience shown during the last two years, the school funded any other costs relating to the day. It was decided that every student should have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of experiences. The funding from the school meant that all trips and visits were made available with no cost. This booklet contains just some of the photographs showing the wonderful things our students got up to. It was a fantastic day and as always, the students excelled themselves!
