A unique event designed for professionals from across the educational spectrum Friday 1st July 2016 // The Marches School //
Your official festival programme
WELCOME
I am delighted to welcome you to the inaugural Marches Academy Trust Festival of Education. The festival’s aim is to offer inspiration and opportunity to educators from all over the country and to enhance students’ learning by giving key practitioners and innovators a platform upon which to share strategies and approaches with serving teachers and educational leaders. Each summer we plan to bring together leading experts from the education sector and inspire debate and discussion amongst industry professionals. And what a first year we have for you! We are very proud to be offering such a great selection of CPD talks and workshops from some of the most prominent individuals within the field of learning. The key focus of Visible Learning is something we are very passionate about here at The Marches Academy Trust and we have seen first-hand just how effective it can be. It represents the largest ever evidence-based research into what actually works best in schools to improve learning and has been dubbed the ‘Holy Grail of Education’. We hope that these talks, along with the resources on offer from our numerous exhibitors, will allow you to develop your own skills and inspire you to adapt and incorporate new approaches into your work, so that you in turn may be able to inspire your students to enjoy their journey of learning.

SPEAKERS The Visible Learning Journey: Experiences from London Fields Intoduced by MP Owen Paterson
Sponsored by

Dr. Nick Ware - Secondary Session: Progress 8 and Closing the Gap Time: 14:00 - 15:00 Location: Hall 2
Schools are driven by a moral purpose to do their best for all students in their care. With the changes to the assessment and accountability framework, new measures have been introduced by which student and school performance is now measured. There is now an emphasis on both attainment and progress within a revised curriculum framework which could be seen to be challenging, depending on the individual context of each school, which may require schools to seek alternative strategies to ensure all students achieve. The session should enable delegates to reflect on their own practice by exploring the challenges and potential benefits of the new accountability framework, coupled with how some schools have embraced the changes to positively impact on their own student outcomes.
