2 entries from our school will be judged nationally with the winning school will win a full set of lab coats! Your deadline is the 25th of March.
Are you in year 7, 8, or 9? Individually, in pairs or groups, design a lab coat around the theme of food and food waste. This is open to interpretation so you could focus on: - Your favourite food - Food and nutrition - Growing food and farming - Food waste recipe ideas - Food distribution - Food politics and poverty - How food is wasted - Improving food sustainability
Ask your science teachers if you want to enter and good luck!!
Can you cultivate a sunflower so it will grow really tall? This year a science week challenge is to do just that. Get a sunflower seed from science and plant it in your garden. Think about what conditions allows a plant to grow at its best. (Research the best conditions for your sunflower before you plant it!)
Take pictures as it grows, and the winning sunflower will be judged in the summer term. The sooner you get it planted the taller it can grow!
Ask your science teachers for a sunflower seed to get you started. Good luck!!!
Density Tower Can you create a density tower like the one below?
Materials with different densities will float on top of each other, like how ice floats on water. The denser materials will sink to the bottom and the less dense will sit on top. Your challenge is to create a tower like this one. Use a glass, or an empty jar and substances you can find at home. Please ask permission before doing this!
Don’t forget to take pictures to show your teachers!
