Spring Term 1 Update Primary Physical Education & Sport
Squash Workshops Year 5 and 6 pupils of Longlands Primary School, have been taking part in squash workshops with coaches from the Market Drayton Squash Club. These workshops have been funded by the Birmingham Commonwealth Games Inspire Fund. The funding have so far supported over 30 children to experience the enjoyment squash can bring.
Cricket Workshops Tilstock C of E Primary School, Lower Heath C of E Primary School, Grange Primary School and Longlands Primary School have all been taking part in Chance to Shine cricket workshops with the Shropshire Cricket Board.

ProStrike Fundraiser Pupils within Tilstock C of E Primary School, raised over £1,800 during their ProStrike fundraising event. All of the children took part and teachers were also keen to have a go at the challenge.
Grange Park Primary School KS1 Football Festival Over 20 pupils attended the Grange Park Primary School KS1 Football Festival in Telford for the English Schools Football Association football week in February. Both teams fully enjoyed their experience and were outstanding. The KS1 girls team were crowned winners of the tournament.

Trust Netball Fixture In February we saw two schools from The Marches Academy Trust battle it out in a netball friendly fixture. Lower Heath C of E Primary School welcomed Longlands Primary School, in what was a fantastic game to watch. Both teams tried their hardest, with Longlands coming out on top.
National Pilot Tilstock CE Primary School, Longlands Primary School and Grange Primary School have all been chosen to become a part of the national pilot ‘Creating Active Schools’. The framework was developed by an international group of experts to promote a whole systems approach to school improvement embedding physical activity in the school’s ethos.

Oakmeadow Football Success Victory for the Oakmeadow C of E Primary School U11 boys that were dominant against St Giles Primary School! On a cold and blustery Friday afternoon, a strong team performance saw them win 4-1 and go through to the next round of the U11s County Plate where they will now face Greenfields Primary School.
Read the Game Programme Longlands Primary School and Grange Primary School pupils have been enjoying their weekly sessions of the Read the Game programme. They have taken part in a comprehension activity based on an information text about the history of Shrewsbury Town Football Club.

Sponsorship Partner Longlands Primary School are delighted that local business Drayton Eats has agreed to sponsor one of their new sports kits.
Bikeability Workshops Children in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 from Grange Primary School, Tilstock C of E Primary School and Longlands Primary School have all been taking part in bikeability workshops to help them gain an understanding of road safety and how to look after their bikes.

LTA Funding In January, Tilstock C of E Primary School and Lower Heath C of E Primary School received a grant of £250 to help replace their old tennis equipment! The pupils will have the chance to use the new rackets, nets and other pieces of fantastic equipment during the academic year.
The Childrens Health Project In January, Oakmeadow C of E Primary School launched their Children's Health Project scheme with support from the organisations Director, Illse Brockling. The Children’s Health Project offers schools a holistic approach to physical health and mental wellbeing education.

Sport England Funding Through funding by Tackling Inequalities and Sport England, we’ve teamed up with a number of organisations to offer activities to children aged 7 to 11 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
PE Portal Launched Working in partnership with Succeedin PE, our Physical Education portal has been launched. The portal houses all of The Marches Academy Trusts PE schemes of work, assessments and reports for staff to gain access throughout the school day.

Active Playtime Planner Launched The Active Playtime Planner Programme’s was launched in February for schools outside of The Marches Academy Trust to purchase. The planners aim is to provide pupils with a ‘child centred’ approach to leading and activating playtimes. Combining Edtech, ICT skills and practical delivery, the programme will allow pupils to plan, deliver and manage their own games at playtimes, whilst connecting a variety of crosscurricular skills such as literacy, numeracy, ICT and PSHE.
