Longlands Primary School - Parents' view

Page 1

What our parents say about us ! This isn’t a school it’s a family! The school is fantastic, all my children have gone there. They offer so much. They are a family, and the children love and respect the staff there and the parents feel the same. If you have a problem, the staff are quick to help or offer help. The school is an asset to the town.

Wouldn’t take my children anywhere else. Both of my children have expressed to me that they would stay at Longlands forever if they could.

As parents, we have been very pleased with how our son and settled and his developing relationships with both staff and pupils. The Forest School and animals are an asset, and the varied learning styles are providing our son with opportunities he likely would not have had in other educational settings. Overall I'd say this school and the staff are AMAZING, WONDERFUL AND GO ABOVE DUTY. They are amazing... I cant speak highly enough & not only the children ALL PARENTS GET SUPPORT CARE & SOMEONE WHO IS COMPASSIONATE TO TALK TO... Most of all you know your child is safe, cared for, has the best chance ever of getting a good education and someone to talk to at all times.

I personally have never seen a school dedicate so much time not only to the child but to the parents & families too. We’re both very pleased with school, keep doing what you’re doing and thank you for the opportunities you give to our child.

Well trained, caring, and compassionate staff who not only give support during school hours they give up free time to help before after and in the holidays... I recommend this school to any parent.

This school is the best school I have ever known. I wish I went to this school when I was younger. The staff, teachers, reception dinner staff even the janitor go ABOVE & BEYOND their duties. They are not just teachers at this school. They offer so much support to any child who just need that extra helping hand & are so quick to recognise any problem your child may have whether big or small. They are excellent when it comes to special needs too. My son wouldn’t be the teenager he is now if it wasn’t for Longlands. He would give anything to go back there. He hated his previous primary school, but because of the hard work & DEDICATED STAFF they bought him on leaps and bounds. You wouldn’t believe the change.

From our Parent survey November 21

56% would like to know more about the curriculum.

How are we responding? We have re-introduced termly class curriculum letters that go out in various formats to all parents. We also regularly update the class pages on our website. We are currently reviewing and updating our foundation curriculum subjects and all our curriculum pages on the website to ensure clarity and precision for the reader. We will begin to do small vlogs about each curriculum area. We plan to reinstate our bacon butty mornings where parents work on different projects in the classroom with their child.

Question about bullying: we haven’t experienced it so we don’t feel we can comment on it. However maybe the definition of a bully could me made clearer to younger children (eg: Zach tends to think that one disagreement with someone means that they are bullies - had to explain to him that just disagreeing with someone doesn’t mean they’re a bully).

This is something that we are working on with all pupils in PSHE. We have done KS1 and KS2 assemblies to discuss what constitutes bullying. There is a wider issue that we need to address in that a large proportion of parents need to be given regular information on what consistutes bullying.
