English In our writing, we will be focussing on writing a myth based on the famous myth, Pandora’s Box. The children will learn all about the myth of Pandora’s Box which includes a mystery box in our own class which should never be opened! Eventually, the children will be writing their own myth similar to Pandora’s Box with their own mythical ideas. It will be an amazing opportunity to show off their fictional writing ability! We will be learning some new grammar skills this term including, paragraphs, fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases. It is also important to remember to use full stops and capital letters mostly accurately. At home, parents/carers can help by reading regularly to and with children. It is also very beneficial to discuss any new words or phrases children may **99999999999999999999999999 come across at school or at home.
Maths This half- term our focus will be on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Children will greatly benefit from practising their times tables at home. By the end of year 3 children should know their x2, x5, x10, x3, x4 and x8 table. By the end of year 4 children should be confident in recalling times tables up to 12x12 including the corresponding division facts. Children can practise their times table at home by using the app ‘Hit the Button’. All you need to do is type this into Google!
We are very excited to be learning about the Bronze Age this term. Similar to the Stone Age, the Bronze Age is so called as all of the weapons, artefacts and jewellery that the people made were supposedly of bronze! The children will participate in Bronze Age activities such as weaving and will have a good go at sketching lots of different Bronze Age artefacts. Our history lessons will be devoted to educating the children of life during the Bronze Age and compare life now to how it was then to give a real perspective of the living conditions. Feel free to complete any extra research or activities on the Bronze Age, many of which can be found on the internet. You may even want to show your extra research and activities to the class! Have fun!
