Born in Los Angeles, Patricia Doyle trained with Sister Corita Kent at Immaculate Heart College, Sam Clayberger at Otis Art Institute, Max Hendler at UCLA and others, including suclptor Richard Ellis at Barnsdall Art Center. As a Californian, used to earthquakes, fires and vanishing landmarks, she sometimes looks for subjects that need to be remembered. Other times, the pull of abstraction is impossible to resist. She has always been more interested in the vital force of lines, shapes and colors–how they can come alive and make a whole new thing–rather than in describing the way things look in a purely academic way. Patricia is a founding member of SCAPE and also a member of SBAA and CVAC. Her work has been featured in Southwest Art magazine.
