MULTIFUNCTIONAL BUS STATION

10

Location: Chaves/Portugal Category: multipurpose building Year: 2012

Typology: transport

Size:2300 m2

Status: academic PROJECT V

RESUME: Mobility and multifunctionality: Multifunctional architecture in response to Chaves cross-border territory The work in question focuses its research and project development in the Flaviense city of the Alto Trás-os-Montes region, more specifically in the Parish of Santa Maria Maior. This place has weaknesses and strengths that are closely related to its geographical location, which is distinguished by its doubly peripheral feature with Portugal and the neighboring Spain, characteristics that enabled it to assume an identity since ancient times, which positions it as promoter of the interior, having the potential to develop a variety of services together with both countries. In this scope, the choice of the intervention site at the location of the old station, next to the historic center of the city, promotes simultaneously a respect for the collective memory of the citizens, and imposes itself as an inviting and welcoming door, thanks to the intrinsic medieval atmosphere of the city, that in this place is marked by the imposing presence of São Francisco and São Neutel fort walls. Having regard to the character of this city, so that our mediation could be a contribution to its sustainable growth and of the entire region, was primary to the current panorama to rethink about mobility and promotion of public transport. Therefore, our proposed project intervention wants to take an important role in those issues, and in turn make a commitment with the city, in our opin¬ion, achievable through its multifunctional and formal manifestation.

AMBULATORY CENTER

16

Location: Espinho/Portugal

Category: health

Year: 2011

Typology: hospital

RESUME: The ambulatory surgery unit arose from a proposed urban development (Urban Frequency), developed in 1.ยบ Semester. The formal idea of the building is continuing this line of thought to the urban scale. This makes the shot between the city and the urban park, making it necessary for the city and diluting over the park. The shape is composed of several branches that twist and intersect in an attempt to respond to the program and the difference in elevation from east to west. Its implementation gives rise to living spaces and green areas with water mirrors, looking decrease the intrinsic nature of hospital, offering spaces that are of a public nature. Its spatial location, try to take advantage of the main arteries of the city, public transport or even new connections that urban solution proposed earlier. Thus allows easy access to those coming from outside of Thorn, or those in various parts of the city. The shape arises from a fabric, which is its basic geometry resulting from the intersection of several branches.

HOUSE OF ARTS

22

Location: Portugal/Porto

Category: Housing-Arts Year: 2008

Typology: Artist House

RESUME: This contest was aimed at architects, students and professionals involved in the construction area and had as its objective the development of an arts home for the selected field in the southern city of Porto’s São Bento station.

This competition developed in a time period of 48 hours, where participants receive information simultaneously and would present the proposals at the end of the period referred to.

This competition also sought to rethink the obsolete spaces, located in great urban relevance places, like historic centers and therefore its abandonment results in a significant impact on the Cities image.

TRAM MUSEUM REQUALIFICATION

26

Location: Gaia/Porto Category: multipurpose building Year: 2013

Typology: collider center

RESUME: The Tram Museum, founded by STCP, was created in 1992 as a museum of the company, with the mission to preserve, collect and disseminate a collection dedicated to rail transport in the city of Porto. It is located in the former building of the Thermoelectric Massarelos where, for about 45 years, was produced and transformed the energy required for network trams of the city of Porto.

It is a listed heritage building of municipal interest that constitutes a unique example of industrial architecture from the beginning of the century. XX, whose history is closely linked to the development of public transport in the city of Porto.

This tender meant the recovery of this great historical structure, giving it new areas and programs, intervening in a respectful manner the building and its surrounding neighbor.

COLLIDER ACTIVITY CENTER

Location: Bulgaria Category: multipurpose building Year: 2013

Typology: collider center

RESUME: In this sense, and this being a building facing escalating main function, we decided to investigate the mountains or other geological elevations important and relevant in the country. The natural landscape of Bulgaria is diverse, consisting of lowlands, plains, foothills and plateaus, river valleys, basins, and mountains of varying elevations. A territory rich in natural diversity, we investigate and bet on a decidedly natural and geological monument that would serve as a conceptual basis for developing the architectural process and we find Ritlite. After several searches designed, among many days, we found a principle of generator development. A building that unfolds in three thick walls and parallel, the negative of which is between the “walls of Ritlite, drawing lines on pavement routes that can be made between these walls. Programmatically and by virtue of having a large space to devote area functionally, it was decided to excavate part of the program, but always imposing a relationship through soft and gentle ramps abroad.

Location: Portugal, Japan, Africa

Category: Housing

Year: 2012

Typology: Social Residence

RESUME: As a base assumption of architectural development, we focus on Human / Human, figure development of many studies in history as Vitruvius, Da Vinci, Le Corbusier and others. This design would be the basis of a mark a drawing where: The place of intervention in the world; The place of intervention in the City; The place of intervention in the Quarter; The place of intervention in the Lot;

And finally: The place of intervention in the Human Being who would inhabit the Subject creating social connections It entails an array of X, which would always be the way that structurally define the image of the passenger compartment.

Location: Sweden/Weesen

Category: Public Space Year: 2012

Typology: Pedonal Bridge

RESUME: The contest for Weesen Bridge, stood in their briefing the need for relationship between the two banks. The main concern would be care- ful with the environmental and visual impact of the locality. In this sense, and clawed these assumptions we chose to take advantage of them. Draw a structure that takes advantage of nature itself and priveligiasse the same, creating a view- point to the location. Assuming this way the bridge is a link but also pause and contempla- tion. The concept reference is a ring with the design of a node. This symbolizes the commitment of relationships between both sides and reaf- firms the intent of his approach. Controlled the shape of the piece, we chose materials vi- zualmente integrated in the atmosphere that would insert. The Corten steel panels, the wood for the structure surrounding and the concrete for the structur. All production and liable to modulate fitting.

The definition of this dwelling, it adds the abil- ity to move (mobility) and extend the interior spaces with the movement of these panels / cabinets functional. In the house of the future, the expansion of space is a necessity arises from the fact there adaptability to the number of users in particu- lar “Home cinema.
