Abstract The project aims to develop an exhibition centre in Treviso, Veneto, Italy. The recent change in the municipality government gave the opportunity to re-think the city in smart-city terms. In 2014 the Italian smart city ranking set Treviso in a medium-low position standing. This group of research composed by two students of the Master degree on Urban and Environmental Planning at IUAV University proposed an urban regeneration through the institution of a new exhibition pole. The new centre is designed to contain a mix of uses, from commercial to residential and industry. In this site it will be possible to display the product excellences of the territory. The project aims to enhance the commercial and productive vocation of the area which configured this area as the gate of the city in the past.

Isola is a Milan suburb which has experienced several changes in the last years. The area changed from a low-density area near the historical centre to a modern high-density business and administrative centre of Milan. Several skyscrapers were constructed in an area of 340 000 square metres, which were designed by the most famous architect firms in the world, as Cesar Pelli or Stefano Boeri. The new skyscraper constructions were constructed in some of the recreational green areas used by the neighbourhood community and increased the rents in the near suburbs, leading inevitability up to gentrification. Therefore, the Municipality of Milan has begun a compensation process which aims is to involve the community. New facility provisions includes the realisation of a new bike park which will be located near Garibaldi Railway Station. In this context, Ciclin’Isola project takes the opportunity to think over the entire suburb mobility. The project performs a series of tools regarding the light mobility and promotes the community to think about the future mobility inside the suburb and in the entire Milan Metropolitan area. Thus, the work will not lead necessarily to a physical project, but to a sequence of options which try to reinforce community awareness about the future of their suburb. Hence, the work wants to be preparatory and encourage bottom-up processes from the inhabitants of the neighbourhood.

Cycli n ’Isola: velostation as an opportunity(?) Step 1. A Velostation? What does it mean? Our work started analysing some case studies across Europe and the world of bike parks and velostations. We examined the main services of bike parks, the grade of efficiency, the distances and physical connections with the railway station as well as the financial assets and management. Step 2. - What do people want? Then, we realised of a nine-question based questionnaire about the mobility and the future bike park. The data were collected on-line and with face-to-face interviews. More than 500 people replied, giving a first general assessment of the community preferences and needs. Step 3. Cycling in 2015 In the following step we analysed the data from the municipality transportation plan and other sources. Thus we could assess the stateof-art of the network and the future trends in the Milan mobility. Our research enlightened a growth of the cycling segment in the last years. Step 4. SWOT After our analysis in general terms, we focused in the area of Garibaldi railroad station. Thus, we identified the main issues through a SWOT analysis.Step 5. Our Manifesto for a sustainable mobility The time was mature to elaborate our proposal for enhancing a more sustainable mobility in Milan. We developed a synoptic framework dealing with six macro-themes, from the physical interventions on public spaces to safety through the implementation of bike services. Step 6. Shared street The general concept is to develop a space where slow mobility can have the priority, without denying the access to motorised vehicles, in order to not compromise the and retail which characterises Isola. Step 7. Traffic Calming intervents Looking at the best experiences for the light mobility across the world we gathered a series of interventions which can be applied in our case study area. This is to develop safer and less polluted environments, allowing the coexisting of cars and slow mobility in urban environments. Step 8. Velostation proposal We concluded giving an interpretation base to realise the future velostation. This effort aims to give a range of possible options concerning the functions, the dimensions and the management of the bike park.

Abstract Reclaiming Venice aims to reconvert an abandoned site in the western edge of Venice, Italy. The working team is composed by landscape and interior architects and urban planners from University IUAV of Venice and UNSW of Sydney, Analysis of the public space and facility provision inside Venice, we denoted a lack of facilities and the need to provide affordable residences for the inhabitants. Thus, the project develops a mix of residential, facilities and commerce providing the area access with public transport.

The location are identified through a GIS analysis and the overlaying of Conservation, Erosion, Building and Fire models. The final outputs are “prudent” and “daring” alternatives, depending on the parameter used for the construction of the four models.

Abstract The project presents a suitable location for an expansion of the UNSW field station. There are four aspects taken into consideration to identify the most suitable area for building this infrastructure, which are erosion levels, fire danger, conservation levels and feasibility for building. The spatial analysis used to estimate the potential areas are the ones that meet those criteria, whilst the approach used was fuzzy logic.
