For more than een years, Tec Wire has been successfully supplying the superyacht industry with stainless steel and standard and bespoke carbon bre products. The company’s strong suit is that it does everything inhouse; from design, to engineering, to production and assembly.

Tec Wire’s products have all been designed, engineered, and manufactured in-house by a talented and professional team which possesses a great amount of skills, cra smanship, and experience in the superyacht sector. Some Tec Wire products you can expect to nd on iconic superyachts throughout the world include sun awnings, ag poles, stanchions, sea fastenings, and railings.

When it all comes together

One of Tec Wire’s recently completed projects is a carbon ber sunawning system delivered on MY Come Together, the rst of the 60 series from Amels, HN6001. Following the design of Espen Øino, triangular shapes of the windows on both sides of the yacht, Tec Wire developed a triangular carbon ber sunawning pole. The project was a turn-key project where they delivered a perfectly working system which included a 3D survey, the installation of the deck inserts, the structure ttings, and nally the composite fabric sunawning sails.

The man behind Tec Wire

We spoke with Arjaan Stevens, proud Owner and Director of Tec Wire, to get some more insights about Tec Wire and to get to know the man behind the company.

Mr Stevens was born and raised in Zeeland, a province located all the way in the southwest corner of the Netherlands. Located right on the leeward side of the North Sea, Zeeland (which literally means ‘sea land’) consists of a number of islands and peninsulas and the southern border is shared with Belgium. The beautiful Tec Wire building is located in Goes, one of Zeeland’s larger cities. The state of the art building is where it all happens, as it holds an R&D centre, the head o ce, o ces for design and engineering, and the production facilities.

“We are committed to innovation, thinking outside of thebox and above all, we are customer focused. We dedicate our in-house expertise, extensive experience and knowledge of onboard operations to nd solutions and deliver superior quality and nish. We always go the extra mile for ourcustomers.”

With a smile on his face, Mr Stevens shares, “I started fabricating tailor-made solutions for the superyacht industry in my shed in the garden. With a great passion for water sports, I just wanted to make the best solutions one can possibly think of. A er a while, Iwas discovered by some major shipyards, which set the ball rolling. The industry was very welcoming and cheered me on when they saw I was a hard worker with apassion for my cra .”

Who was your rst big client and what did you produce for this client?

Mr Stevens shares, “My rst big client was Oceanco. In short, Oceanco called me for anything that didn’t yet exist yet or solutions that the company had not yet engineered. At one point, around een years ago, some of the Oceanco yachts had a self-levelling boarding ladder with aluminium steps. This posed a great challenge for the crew, who had to hold up the heavy framework of the ladder outside of the yacht to install it. They asked me to make a midship hoist installation which goes over the bulwark. Basically, they asked for an aid to install the ladder, which had been almost impossible to do manually because of the weight of the steps. This was my rst big project.

In the end, I engineered a crane that you can assemble on >> aceiling or a wall, under which the ladder can be stored. With this system, the ladder can be carefully pushed outside the yacht via a rails system, a er which the ladder can be slowly dropped into place with the help of the crane.”

What is your vision for Tec Wire?

Mr Stevens concludes, “I don’t see the company as just a workplace or a corporate o ce. I see every employee as part of a mechanism, to ultimately reach the same goal together. My vision is to have everyone working together from a place of passion, to create only the best products, with great freedom to innovate, and most of all to have fun during the journey.” i. tecwire.nl

Currently, Tec Wire’s customer base consists of approximately 200 shipyards, management rms, and superyacht owners, to which they mainly provide carbon ber sunawning systems, carbon ber and stainless steel stanchions, carbon ber railing systems, carbon ber and stainless steel agpoles, carbon ber and stainless steel jacksta s, carbon ber swim ladders, carbon ber dock steps, and carbon ber seasonal covers. Their spanner system is unique because of the method of attachment with special stainless steel ball pivots and cups between which the non-stretch line with Dyneema sleeve is attached. Another unique feature is the tensioning mechanism, which allows tensioning the lines by hand without the use of tools.
