ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION SHOWING ALTERNATIVE DESIGNS FOR MUSEUM
TRANSEUM
TRANSPORTATION HUBS + MUSEUMS = TRANSEUM We spend[waste] a considerable amount of time in mass transit every day travelling to and from work, not to mention the time we spend commuting for other purposes. On average, it costs us almost 150 hours per year, doing nothing. But what if our journey became a learning course? A learning course that keeps our brains active and reconnects us to the cultural environment. “Transeum” is a concept that reimagines concourse spaces of transport hubs as the next generation venue for showing. It utilises advanced holographic projection technology to recreate a three-dimensional holographic representation of exhibits from different museums in real-time. Transeum sees concourses as exhibition halls; railways, metro and bus routes as corridors to form a network of museums. It introduces an alternative approach to stretch the boundaries of traditional museums into a network of exhibition halls that spread across the whole country. Ultimately, “Transeum” is a new museum typology that allows us to witness and learn from our past while we are waiting for the next train or on board with our smart phone. It becomes part of our daily commutes and guide us to a more engaging future.
