ARTWORKS INSPIRED IN ATLANTIDA MYTH. by Marcos Gonzรกlezz
During my internship I have been part of the process of creating the SS13 collection “Lost City”, involving myself the following tasks: • Sketching and visualising an idea and producing the designs using computer-aided design (CAD); • Keeping up to date with emerging fashion trends as well as general trends relating to fabrics, colours and shapes according at the designer’s perspective; •
Planning and developing outfits;
• Working with others interns as a design team to develop the ideas to meet a target on time; • Understanding design from a technical perspective, i.e. producing patterns and technical specifications for suppliers; • Sourcing, selecting and buying fabrics, trims, fastenings and embellishments; •
Adapting existing designs (previous collections) for mass production;
• Developing a pattern that is cut and sewn into sample garments and supervising the making up of these, including fitting with a model, detailing and adaptations; • Negotiating with the showroom (http://www.felicities.co.uk/) on managing marketing; • Finances and other business activities, as the head designer is working on a self-employed basis.
