CONTENT 2011-2015 PROJECT 1. Exploring the lives of professionals and the tools they use everyday.

PROJECT 2. Rethinking how to clean and store dishware in a camping environment.

PROJECT 3. Redesigning a brand for more profound usage and branding appeal.

PROJECT 1. Professional Kitchen Tools BRIEF Make a tool that will improve a professional’s work experience. DURATION 4 Weeks

RESEARCH Pizzaiolo & Pizza Peel ANTHONY MANGERI Making pizzas in his grandma’s kitchen since the age of six. Born in New York and visiting Naples, Italy has developed a pizzaiolo prodigy, who has explained his average work day. He struggles with back pains, splinters, and handling His most used tool is his pizza peel that he takes the pizza in and out the oven. A tool that has not had a fair redesign since it was created in the 1850s.

IDEATION Sketches & Form Mock-Ups PROCESS Lively sketching creates a strong impact on the variations of prototypes.

FINAL DESIGN Pizza Peel ORA PEEL Used to improve the work flow through out the day with an simplistic design language. It has many advantages over an average peel that are beneficial to the user. Ora Peel has heat proof silicone grips on the back and front ends of the peel for protection from hot ovens. Also the grips work with the elevated handle for better maneuverability. The front end paddle is perforated for removing excessive flour.

PROJECT 2. Camping Equipment BRIEF Improving the experience of cleansing in a camping environment. DURATION 4 Weeks

RESEARCH Brand & Interviews BIOLITE Develops and manufactures advanced energy products that make cooking with wood as clean, safe and easy while also producing electricity to charge cell phones and led lights off-grid. CAMPERS Interviewing different campers gave a diverse perspective on camping and cleaning in the environment. Compaction, durability, and cleanliness became factors.

IDEATION Sketches & Marker Renders PROCESS Bringing brainstorming functionalities to a collective form that represents BioLite and serves a purpose. Using BioLite’s colorway creates a realistic impression.

FINAL DESIGN Dish Cleansing Station CAMPWASHER Improving the way you handle and wash dishes in a camping environment. These adjustments help improve the way you carry, wash, and dry your dishes. The CampWasher serves as a carrier for your dishes, serving up to a family of four. The dishes can then be unloaded for a meal then washed in the bottom basin and then stored again in the middle drying/storing rack. Topped off with a lid that serves as a carrying handle.

PROJECT 3. Power Tools BRIEF Discovering new ways to improve the use and look of power tools. DURATION 6 Weeks

RESEARCH Carpenter & Brand (Tools) MARC SINGLETON SR. He is concerned that his tools are not serving his needs for full work eďŹƒciency. The tools he use the most is the Impact Drill & Reciprocating Saw. HILTI A high-end power tool global construction industry. Making dependable, sturdy products that host a modern look.

INSPIRATION Forms & Details PROCESS From these images form language was achieved for ďŹ nding an even balance of materials. This has driven me to ďŹ nd an concise form that looks appealing and ergonomical. Details were also a factor that was achieved through these images. Detailing and logo placement was key to bringing the form to reality.

IDEATION Sketches & Marker Renders PROCESS Finding the simple elements of a saw and drill helped support the variations of different forms and detail placement. The colorway served as a visualizer for material breaks and logo placing.

MODEL MAKING CNC Router & Spray Gun (Painting) PROCESS After 3-D modeling the forms of the saw & drill in SolidWorks the CNC Router cut the forms out of 20 pound modeling foam. Cut-outs were used to get the foam just right. After sanding the foam to a smooth surface for paint, primer was used to ďŹ ll the remaining coarseness. With the use of the spray gun the colors of paint were applied.

FINAL DESIGN 1. Impact Drill SID 25-E These tools have been modified for superior performance in the field. With the added surround lighting helping for tight, dark area. The syncing app improves the usage of the tools and gives feedback on the performance with perks of Hilti’s forums and promotions. The app can also help locate your tools if they were ever lost. The wireless charging ability creates more freedom to work without the hassle of annoying wires and helps charges the tools while there in use.

FINAL DESIGN 2. Reciprocating Saw WSR 850-E The WSR 850-E have all the features the SID 25-E has, surround lighting, syncing app, and wireless charging. Overall these tools were made to do there job, and to do it well.
