SPACE 360 EMPOWERS STUDENTS TO BE CREATIVE THROUGH CONNECTION AND MUTUAL INSPIRATION. THEIR CRAFT IS AN EXPRESSION OF THE NEW CREATIVE LITERACY. WHEN CROSS-POLLINATED, THEY CAN FIND SUCCESS, AND IN NO SMALL WAY HAVE THE POWER TO SOLVE WORLD PROBLEMS.

THE CLIENT THE YOUNG CREATIVE MIND IS CONNECTED. SOCIAL MEDIA HAS EXPANDED THE POSSIBILITIES AND VIEWS OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TODAY. HERE IN BOSTON, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE CREATIVE EDUCATION TO SOLIDIFY THEIR PASSIONS, AND EVENTUALLY EMBRACE CAREERS IN CREATIVE FIELDS. THEY ARE FINE ARTISTS, SINGERS, MUSICIANS, PERFORMERS, DESIGNERS AND FASHIONISTAS. THEY ARE MET WITH A QUICKLY CHANGING ECONOMY WHICH DOES NOT GUARANTEE THEM SUCCESS. THERE ARE VERY FEW RULES, BUT LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES. IT IS THEIR CHALLENGE TO FIND WAYS TO CONNECT, BREAK BOUNDARIES, AND USE THEIR CREATIVITY TO OVERCOME THE MANY CHALLENGES OF OUR MODERN WORLD.

“VULNERABILITY IS THE BIRTHPLACE OF INNOVATION, CREATIVITY AND CHANGE.” -BRENÉ BROWN
8 SPACE 360
THE CONCEPT I LOOKED INTO MY OWN EXPERIENCE FOR A BEGINNING. AS A BOSTON TRANSPLANT, I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO FIGURE OUT A NEW WAY OF LIFE. THIS INCLUDED STUDYING IN A NEW, UNTRADITIONAL SCHOOL, AS WELL AS HITTING THE PAVEMENT IN A DIFFICULT JOB SEARCH. WHEN I CAME ACROSS THE QUOTE, “VULNERABILITY IS THE BIRTHPLACE OF INNOVATION, CREATIVITY, AND CHANGE,” SOMETHING IMMEDIATELY CLICKED. IN ORDER FOR THESE STUDENTS TO BE FIND SUCCESS, THEY MUST EMBRACE VULNERABILITY. BRENE BROWN, SHAME AND VULNERABILITY RESEARCHER, PROFESSOR, AND AUTHOR, HAS CUMULATED OVER A DOZEN YEARS OF RESEARCH PROVING THAT IN ORDER TO LIVE A WHOLEHEARTED LIFE, ONE MUST LIVE VULNERABLY. SO THIS IS IT. BE VULNERABLE. TAKE THE FIRST STEP. SHOW UP. BE SEEN. DO THIS AND YOU WILL MEET CHALLENGES, BUT YOU WILL EXCEED YOUR OWN EXPECTATIONS.

FOR CREATION, & DISPLAY TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR STUDENTS TO BUILD MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS & PUT THEIR WORK OUT THERE FOR PEOPLE TO SEE. PROXIMITY IS THE KEY.
DEDUCTIONS | WHAT WILL BE IMPORTANT? 12 SPACE 360
PRECEDENT PHILOSOPHICAL PRECEDENT AND PHYSICAL PRECEDENT STUDIES WERE BOTH INFORMATIVE IN MY RESEARCH PROCESS. I NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE WORK TOGETHER TO SUCCESSFULLY COLLABORATE AND BE INSPIRED. I ALSO NEEDED TO SEE HOW TO THREE DIMENSIONALLY EXPAND THE CONCEPT OF VULNERABILITY. HOW COULD IT BE IMPLEMENTED INTO A SPACE? HOW COULD IT BECOME ELEMENTS OF A PROGRAM?

SITE 360 NEWBURY STREET IS IN THE BACK BAY NEIGHBORHOOD OF BOSTON. IT IS PROMINENTLY LOCATED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MAJOR SHOPPING DESTINATION OF NEWBURY STREET, AS WELL AS ABOVE THE HYNES CONVENTION CENTER MBTA GREEN LINE STOP. THE SPACE WAS FORMERLY A LARGE RETAIL CHAIN WITH CONDOS ON THE UPPER FLOORS. THERE IS NO PARKING WITHIN THE BUILDING, BUT IT IS A COMPLETELY ACCESSIBLE BUILDING BY THOSE BEING DROPPED OFF BY CAR, WALKING, BIKING, SKATEBOARDING, OR TAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. 360 NEWBURY IS CENTERED AMONG MANY COLLEGE CAMPUSES. IT IS A HUB WITH THE HUB.

FINAL AS I APPROACHED THE FINAL PRESENTATION I FELT COMPLETELY ENVELOPED IN MY PROJECT. THE CONCEPT OF VULNERABILITY MAKING A PATHWAY FOR CREATIVITY BECAME VERY TANGIBLE TO ME. I COULD VISUALIZE MYSELF IN SPACE 360. I UNDERSTOOD WHAT IT COULD DO FOR STUDENT ARTISTS AND THE COMMUNITY. IT WAS A CHALLENGE TO VISUALLY REPRESENT WHAT THE SPACE NEEDED TO FEEL LIKE, BUT I FOUND SUCCESS IN UTILIZING MULTIPLE FORMS OF DIGITAL MEDIA.

FINAL THOUGHTS THIS HAS BEEN AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE. THE FEEDBACK I RECEIVED AT MY FINAL REVIEW WAS EXTREMELY ENCOURAGING. I AM INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE SUPPORT FROM EVERYONE. IT HAS BEEN AMAZING TO SEE THAT MY OWN VULNERABILITY WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE SUCCESS OF THIS PROJECT, WHICH IN TURN STRENGTHENED MY CONCEPT. IN THE END I FELT LIKE I WAS ABLE TO LIVE MY CONCEPT. I HOPE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THE LESSONS I LEARNED HERE INTO THE REST OF MY PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LIFE.
