Transitional design is one that changes over time, typically incorporating touches of contemporary style, which is also constantly evolving, and at the same time including touches of traditional style integrating these two styles in a balanced way offering the best of both worlds. The result will provide us with an aesthetic that can seem more current than classic, changing as current trends do, while seamlessly merging with classic design elements. That is why this style has a great feature of versatility in interior design. Combining clean lines and contemporary colors with traditional scent fabrics and prints makes it easy to highlight or blend, depending on your taste. Today, transitional design remains a style that has a solid foundation in the art of balancing comfort and sophistication. Achieving that harmony and integration between the past and the present that is the key to this style.
The main features are: -Transitional's colors are not as saturated, and there's less use of pattern overall. When a pattern is employed, it's generally a subdued geometric. -Transitional style mixes different species and tones of wood, and the wood is generally a lighter color than in traditional design. Painted wood dressers, tables and more are also good options for this style. -Transitional may have detailed millwork, but it doesn't overwhelm the space. -Transitional tones down traditional elements with contrasting contemporary furniture. -Transitional style uses fibers such as rattan, sisal and jute, which aren't found in traditional decor.
color palette The Transitional Color Palette Transitional spaces often rely on the simplicity of bright, neutral hues. That’s not to say, however, that the space has to be boring. Contrast and dimension are achieved by layering various shades in the same general palette, or through pops of color and pattern in décor and accents. For an even more dramatic look, try a bold paint color on the walls and balance it out with neutral furniture and décor. Transitional Materials Due to their signature neutral palettes, transitional spaces often incorporate a wide variety of fabrics and materials. Layering these different elements helps create texture and dimension while still adhering to the minimalist color scheme. Try pairing linen with leather for a best-of-both-worlds look. Wood, wicker, and metal elements also add pleasant contrast to the softness of upholstery.
BED room
Bedroom The transitional style works especially well in the bedroom. The calming palette and comfortable silhouettes of transitional style are perfect for creating a serene, soothing sleep space. Transitional style bedroom typically marries traditional beds and headboards with more modern-leaning dressers and nightstands, but this is not a strict rule. Perhaps you prefer the look of a simple platform bed alongside curvy wooden silhouettes, and that could looks good also. No matter your preference, the most important element of transitional style is a well-struck balance between the old and the new.
KITCHEN
Kitchen Transitional kitchen designs can allow you to blend traditional and contemporary styles without fear of creating an unpleasant contrast. Instead, the designs, colors and textures come together to inspire the beauty of color and enhance your personal style. There are some basic elements that will normally comprise a transitional kitchen design, which generally provide the framework for a sophisticated and beautiful kitchen of this style, which can be useful in whole or in part depending on the points that interest you the most. -Geometric, clean and practical lines on countertops, cabinets, crown molding and other handcrafted items. -Industrial or contemporary lighting -Simple cabinet styles, such as a Shaker style or cabinet with a stained or painted finish -A mix of natural and artificial materials. -Neutral and natural colors that reflect a harmonious palette. -Subtle decoration on the walls or moldings. -The beauty and sobriety of the transitional kitchen cabinets blend with the rest of the landscape, resembling a natural structure. That way, other kitchen elements, such as stone countertops or smooth black tiles, will stand out with great importance, creating a blend of elegance and classic appeal.
Dining Room
Dining room In the dining room you can use a modern table and chairs, but upholster the chairs with a traditional fabric that is subtle, so that the dining room chairs provide the opportunity to infuse your space with a more visual touch, and in turn make the space more comfortable and elegant. Another alternative is to use traditional furniture in combination with modern fixtures and lighting, such as steel pendants with exposed light bulbs. Classic hardwood floors can be another traditional feature in a contemporary dining room.
