1 EDUCATION
Tuesday 16th , September 2012
Mexico ranks 48th of 129 countries in the world regarding Education. Measured by UNESCO in education development index. Reporters Diana Karen Rodriguez 5th grade Danyali 4th grade
The 1917 Constitution provides that education should avoid privileges of religion, and that no religion nor its members may be given preference in education over another. Religious instruction is prohibited in public schools. However, religious associations are free to maintain private schools, which receive no public funds. Proof of Mexican citizenship is required to attend public schools for free, but foreigners can attend public schools by paying a tuition. In the same fashion to other education systems, education may be described in identifiable stages, such as Primary School, Junior High School, High School, Higher education, and Postgraduate education.
Mexico ranks 48th of 129 countries in the world regarding Education leaving, behind countries like Cuba, Argentina, Chile, and some others. Although Mexico is in the middle of this classification, UNESCO points it out as one of the countries that could achieve the goal of "Education for All" in 2015. Even with the constitutional provisions guaranteeing the gratitude of primary education, families must cover expenses that in some cases represent a third of total income households so it is very difficult to send their children to school.

TIME TO CELEBRATE…
Tuesday 16th, September 2012
September 16th - The Day of Independence - is our country's most important national holiday, involving civic, cultural and military ceremonies and celebrations. Reporters Silvia Vite 4th grade Daniela Cardentti 5th grade Of course that we are going to talk about the Independence day. It is Mexico’s most important holiday , a celebration that marks the first day of a long fight in our country. Mexico's independence from Spain, resulted from a war that began on September 16th, 1810 and lasted until 1821. The movement, which began as a peasant rebellion, received little support among Mexicans. There were strong political divisions with differing point of views on how Mexico should be ruled. However, independence was gained nonetheless. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a Catholic priest from the village of Dolores, received word that the independence movement had been discovered and he was to be arrested. Hidalgo, who was the former dean of the College of San Nicolas, in Michoacan, was a welleducated, courageous humanitarian; who was also very sympathetic to the Indians. As such, he was beloved and respected by many Mexicans.
Through eleven years of war, and decades of oppressive rule and political unrest, Hidalgo's declaration of "Mexicanos, viva Mexico," which is known as “El Grito de Dolores” (the cry of Dolores), has rung on. Each year on September 15, at midnight, the president of Mexico leads the people in shouting “El Grito”, in remembrance of the famous words that commenced Mexico's formal struggle for its independence from Spain. Hidalgo is honored as the father of Mexican independence.

THE WORKSHOP
Tuesday 16th, September 2012
Children love the opportunity to be part of a theatrical production. Reporters Paula Bacelis 4th grade Ariadna Duprat 4th grade This year, as many others, students will have different workshops according to their grade. We bring this section to you, so that you learn a little bit more about all those activities. A Workshop is a group of 10- 15 students in a specific course that meets weekly for about an hour out of their regular class schedule. Our reporters interviewed Miss Broky, who is in charge of the “Theater Workshop”.
Class work includes theatre games,
characterization techniques, public speaking lessons and improvisation exercises. CTW emphasizes in creativity, teamwork, speech skills and in building your child’s self esteem. It also provides students with live theatre experience – as much or as little as they want – so that they can explore the world of theatre arts.
Boys from 4th and 5th grade are taking the workshop this semester and the purpose of this is that children lose their fear of speaking in front of an audience and gain more self-confidence. We hope to present a small Christmas play for the rest of the school in December. The workshop has been well received by the children; they are having fun and are very excited to learn about theater and acting.

Try to imagine going through a day without these items. We all make use of the technology developed in the 20th century. This activity lets you go back through the century to find out when everyday items, such as these first, appeared in homes.
Speaking of Technology; in times of the Independence in 1810, the printing press start its job through Frederick Koening from Germany.
