The project explores the relatioship between garment and the human body. It’s fascinating how man intervenes in his body to alter it; that strong thirst for deformation is the starting point of this dress. Through a journey in my grandmother’s fashion magazines from the 70’s, I discover the patterns she used to sew my mother’s clothes. These patterns will later become my tools,
while the form of the human body becomes the object of my research. The patterns are used in a different manner to construct a whole new other garment, that can push body image to its extreme. Deconstructing my grandmother’s techniques is what debunks the notion of my body ideal, as well as it gives my heritage a place to the ever so restless world of today.
